Fatherhood must be nice-slight DH rant

I must caveat this saying DH has been really great about alot of stuff sinceDD was born but he is on my absolute last nerve today.  We were up till 6 am with a very unhappy baby-I'd say colicky even  but she's EBF and I know that's rare...anyways,

so I get up at 9:30 nurse DD change diaper, unload dishwasher, nurse again etc all with an aching perineum (worse the 2 week than the first, cuz now its got that healing tightness/itch to it ) and he sleeps til noon, gets on xbox for 3 hours then goes to the gym.

Oh and since he watched one online video he now thinks he is a lactation consultant and is critiquing our form and saying my erroneous feeding techniques are causing her midnight fusses (cuz you can believe everything you see online, you know) because I must only be getting foremilk to her (even tho her stool would suggest otherwise) and nursing too frequently (cuz feeding a 10 day old on demand  might be wrong)...argh, So this morning (or afternoon as it were) when he was holding her when he got up so I could go to the bathroom and such, she starts crying and its her hungry cry and i pretty much had to demand he give me the baby because he said she was just rooting because her tummy was bother her (yes, it's called hunger)...maybe its best he is at the gym because I kinda wanna kick him right now

  • As soon as DH backed off and stopped hovering, DS and I started doing much better with bfing. Don't know why he thought he was such an expert! but that is my only gripe with DH, sorry he is frustrating you!

  • Fathers will never do it as well as the mothers do.  It's just physically impossible.  My husband thinks that we equally participate in the responsibilities of the baby.  So funny.

  • Mine "got bored" five days postpartum and decided to go work in the yard. He's now absolutely COVERED in poison ivy and can't even touch the baby. I could have killed him, but I know when he clears up I have a pedicure and massage coming to me.

  • I'd be mad too!

Our baby has reflux (GERD), which our pedi said is the primary cause of colic. He's exclusively breastfed too. Sometimes babies w/ reflux want to nurse a lot because it's soothing to their esophagus but if they fuss after it can be because they're in pain.   it's really common you may want to ask your pedi!

  • Ahhhh the dads. They really have no idea... I've been trying not to be resentful and I've also just decided to step back and let him do his thing so I can rest and have a few minutes of me time. Like tonight, I pumped, folded baby clothes, and was zonked from the rest of the days earlier routine. I mentioned to him that bottles needed to be washed and then made. He says he's going to take a bath. The twins were asleep so I decided that I would go to sleep on the couch just like he does. When I woke up he was in the middle of the 11 pm feeding and all bottles were clean and made for tomorrow. I was pleased...
