LO's name vs. "the baby"

It occurred to me the other day that I'm not calling DS "the baby" as much and using his name a lot more. Do you find yourself doing this? I'm wondering if it's because his personality is starting to come out. I still call him Mini Man, though, when talking to him.

one of my pet peeves is parents who always say "the baby". our best friends do it all the time and their "baby" is 16 months. we picked our kids names b/c we love them, so why wouldn't we use them?

I do call DS Luke a lot more now. I think it's because he's finally fitting his name. With dd we called her "the baby" until DS was born. Embarrassed

DS is also called big boy, little man, or I tend to call him Luca or Luckie.. Not sure why.

We call him bubs alot. I call him 'the baby' alot more then dh does. When I'm speaking directly to ds I do call him Cash or Cashy (which reminds me of the granola bars when I think about it....).

We call ours little one. Or when I'm talking to her it's always turkeybird. Same with close friends/family I refer to her as turkeybird. I swear that when I go to the doctors for her and they ask the name I have to stop myself and remember that she actually does have a real name. Its horrible.

Whenever you say "LBB" I always read it as Lyndon Baines Blu. Geeked

we have always called them by their names and nicknames--neither one has ever been called 'the baby' now that i think about it!

We call him by his name, mostly when referring to him while talking to each other or other people. When we talk to him, we're still stuck on pet names and "baby!!", but are naturally starting to say his name more.

ETA: DH and I hardly ever call each other our first names and instead call each other our pet names / nick names. Just realized that might have something to do with it.

I'm guilty of calling DS "the baby" but most often call him Linc or "stinker". lol I call my DD "baby" when I'm talking to her. I probably always will.

Yes. We used to always say "the baby" or "peanut". Now we call him Ben.

We've been making more of an effort to call her by her name and not the baby. We figure that is the only way she will learn what her name is. We don't want her to think "the baby" is her name.

MH calls B "Bubs" because she was a bubble maker for about a month. I call her "Beanie"... I refer to her as "B" when writing or texting.

We never call her "The baby"... at least not that I am aware of.
