Two of my favorite pg snacks are almonds and peanut butter crackers. Since I work at a university health center where there may be patients with anaphylactic allergies I cannot keep them in my pocket or eat them att my desk. I need to go to the staff room, then wash my hands far, far more thoroughly than I usually do before treating a patient and then go to the bathroom and brush my teeth. Obviously this is not a quick snack. Any ideas for healthful, non perishable, healthful substitutes.
I do not want to make light of life threatening allergies, but it is a real PITA (and I will probably be flamed by the allergy community).
Re: Food allergies
I'm trying to think of some healthy snack ideas, too. Interested in seeing what others post.
How about carrots or celery... if you are worried about them drying out, you can put some water in the ziplock baggie or tupperware.
Crackers... I am loving Wheat Thins Sundried Tomato right now. You can keep a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese in the baggie with them if you plan to eat it within the 4 hour "food safety" time of having it out of the fridge. Laughing cow is processed cheese, so maybe some cheddar slices or something else.
Fruit of any kind. Watermelon sounds really good to me right now! Grapes are easy. Banana. Any other fruit cut up, too.
PAIF and SAIF welcome. IVF questions welcome, too.
i totally feel your pain...i work at a school, and due to allergies, we are peanut free, we aren't even allowed to bring anything into the center, not even staff
it's hard, because right now my craving is pb&j's LOL i inhaled 2 for breakfast!
when you find a good substitute let me know too! LOL
