I got my first sad face.
DS got into a short-lived habit of spitting out his juice/water/milk, whatever he was drinking. Well the other day he did it and it just happened to be the WRONG moment to do it. I was having one of those pregnancy hormone induced uber grouchy mornings and when he did it, I kind of lost it. I got really mad and said something like "I told you NO! Don't spit out your juice!!!" and he just stopped and rather than give me startled face (because I kind of yelled), he gave me a somewhat sad face, and I was floored.
Don't get me wrong, we're used to seeing emotions from him but mostly happy, angry, maybe afraid but this was a "I just got yelled at and now I'm sad" face.
I was upset that I took out my grouchiness on him but at the same time, it was just one of those "typical" moments that come so rarely for us but when they do, they make our day.
So we changed his shirt, gave him lots of kisses, and continued on with our day. He then kept coming back around for hugs during the morning - not usual for him. I assume it was for reassurance.
