question about Christmas ham

Since so many of you have ham at Christmas, I have to know. Do you actually like it?

 

I hate ham. I might be the only one here, but my whole entire family (Brian's family too) hates it except my grandmother. She grew up in the Depression, though, so she will eat anything.

    I LOVE ham...if it is cooked write.  Honey ham is my favorite.  I will eat turkey but don't really like it.

    It's not my favorite unless it's sugar cured or honey baked.  My FIL made a ham last year and he covered it in brown sugar and a mixture of cloves and spices.  It was the.best.ham.ever.  I have the recipe from him and am planning on making it this year.

    ICK.

    I hate ham.  HATE it.  My MIL likes to make it for Easter; she might make it for Christmas but I don't know - we have Christmas w/ my family.

    ick ick ick.

    I don't like Honey ham, but a plain ham I love. ?My grandma always slow cooks one on the stove in a pot with green beans and carrots. ?She will do that year round though. ?I can't wait to have it!

    Beth, I'm pretty sure the word "ham" sounds like someone about to barf. The two words are synonymous to me, too.

    Christmas is the only time I eat ham.  I don't hate it, but would definitely not buy it for myself any other time of the year.  I only have like 1 slice though and fill up on sides, so it's not that bad.  lol

    I LOVEEEE ham! Especially the gravy. Yummy. Since DH works at a hog farm and we get a whole hog once a year butchered so we get lots of ham. I make it about once every two months.  Of course, mine has to be loaded with ketchup. :)

    Me too.  I almost wish that I hadn't opened this thread because thinking about eating squishy, nasty ham makes my stomach queasy.

    I should disclaim that I will eat "lunchmeat" ham. But only if it's on a toasted onion bagel with a little mayo and lots of mustard. Weird, no?

    Pork and hog roasts are a TOTALLY different story for me.

    Ham is NASTY.

    For some reason, I equate it to a heavily-processed meat. And hot dogs. And the nasty hard-ish skin - yuck.

    Seriously, thinking about it churns my stomach.

    I'm generally not a fan, but I couldn't believe how tasty the Honey Baked Ham we got as a gift was!  So I can't say I don't like *any* ham - I at least like theirs!

    I'll eat plain baked ham -- no sugar or cloves -- blech!.  And like Danae, I love ketchup on it.  

     however, I will not eat lunch meat ham -- blech!

    Jackson likes ham sometimes for lunch.

    But I have to say this thread makes me want to puke; I'm going to have to stop opening it - I'm gagging as I'm reading.

    I could eat ham everyday of my life. Honey-Baked Ham, Kentucky Ham... lunchmeat ham. Ham ham ham. I love it. Big Smile

    I love ham, but it has to be cooked right. My mom makes some awesome ham. I am not a huge fan of lunchmeat ham though. I usually stick with the turkey.
