Medela users-milk in tubing, why?

This happened over the weekend, then again just now...I get milk backed up in the tubing of my medela PISA.  I left it on after I was done pumping & I was able to get the milk out, but does anyone know why it happens?  I'm just hoping there's nothing going wrong with my pump :(

    this happens with my single electric medela I keep at home sometimes-- it's usually b/c the membrane isn't opening to let the milk out- usually b/c DH washed them together and let them dry together-- it seems to make the membrane stick to the valve more.

    This! Sometimes I use Lanolin to help with the friction and it got in between my valve and membrane. The milk backed up in the valve and then went into my tubing. I rinsed my tubing let, slung out as much water as I could, and then turned my pump on for a while to let it dry. (this was recommended to me by customer service)

    You can also run rubbing alcohol through the tubing, to really make sure it's sterile again... it runs through it well.

    It's perfectly normal with Medelas.  The instruction manual actually recommends you leave it running for few minutes to make sure it has a chance to dry.  Not sure why it happens exactly.  Something to do with the style of pump.

    disconnect the tubing and just dump it in one end.... runs right out the other end!
