H started daycare today. She is apparently doing great (the office manager emailed me a few minutes ago with an update) and the teacher was shocked that she hadn't been in a "school" situation before given how well she was adjusting.
But I'm a mess. I know this is good for her, AND me. It seems so strange to be in a quiet house. I guess on the up side, my house is going to be spotless by the time DH gets home because I'm using my first baby-free day to do a massive cleaning before all my part-time work kicks back in.
Re: Having a hard day
Oh i remember the first day of daycare well. It is HARD - much harder on mom than baby, i'm convinced. I remember that I went shopping and ended up just buying things for DD because I missed her so much. It gets easier, i promise - and it's a good thing for both of you! Like preissless mentioned, treat yourself. I remember going to lunch, reading a book and just enjoying a long dessert and coffee for a couple of hours. It felt sinfully delicious... the most important words i can give you is to allow yourself to enjoy the time. Let yourself get some time to yourself and allow yourself to enjoy it - it took me a while to do so but it will rejuvenate you in the end.
Huge hugs, mama! It does get easier but the adjustement is a tough one. Your LO will always be your baby, no matter where she is in life :-)
the 1st few days are so hard, in fact I found the 2nd day to be harder but in a few weeks it'll get easier; it IS much harder on you than her

ditto this exactly! it is really hard but it is nice that she is doing well. later there will be comfort in knowing she is at a great place and happy :-)
