We're going to see Wicked tomorrow (squee!!) and I bought a knee length black dress, wide red belt and black hose. I tried to find a pic of the dress but no dice, I'll snap one on my phone if necessary. I was planning on wearing some strappy red dress sandals, but it's going to be too cold. I really can't wear heels if we have to walk very far at all. Any suggestions? Would ankle boots look ridiculous? Ballet flats? Should I get red or black? We'll be doing a fancy dinner before the show.
Also, I've never been to a show at Bass Concert Hall. Will we have to walk far? Is parking going to be insane? How early do you think we should be at the concert hall?
Re: Help dress me for Wicked? And any tips for Bass Concert Hall?
Since I don't know about the dress my safe pick would be ballet flats in either the red or black whatever you see yourself wearing again.
There is a parking garage near the concert hall that you can pay to park in but it's pretty minimal. There is a good amount of parking. I'd get there at least a half hour before the show. It's about a 5 minute walk from the parking lot and you also have to also find your seat. You can buy drinks and have them during the show so we usually get right in line which can take another 10-15 minutes.
Have fun!
The walk is about a good city block. Not horrible at all, I wore heels and was fine. People dress in everything from jeans and tshirts to oober fancy. Parking is $8 at the garage.
And Wicked was amazing. The woman who plays Elphaba blew me away, and I'm a complete musical snob. Glinda was hilarious.
we'll be there tomorrow night too :-) I'd go with the ballet flats-- you will see a range of clothes from super dressy (think mink coat) to jeans and a t-shirt. Gotta love Austin. We usually park over on Dean Keaton or at the LBJ school and walk... it's about five minutes but rough pebbly sidewalk surface.
Have fun!
