My little escape artist...

Anyone else's DC climb out of the crib on the lowest setting? He's not even that tall but super strong I guess to have lifted himself that high. I was getting his clothes out for school and he was in his crib. He must have been standing on this tiny teddy bear maybe two inches high when squished and pulled himself almost over the top rail. The only thing that stopped him was his FP rainforest thingy attached to his crib. When his leg started going over his foot got caught in between the toy and the crib side rail. I turned just in time to catch him!

Now what do I do? I already took everything out of his crib but I'm still scared he will do it again. I was a master crib escapee so I guess this is my payback - but really, already climbing out?? He's not ready fo the next bed yet is he?

Re: My little escape artist...

  • It could be big boy bed time or you could get one of those net things...

  • Gosh, I don't know what you could do.  I can't imagine he would stay in a toddler bed, do you?  That's so funny though, sorry :)

  • Does his crib convert into a toddler bed? I think it is time for a toddler or bigger bed. He is only going to keep trying to escape and next time you might not be there to catch him.

  • I think this will become a regular thing. I sat him back down in his crib with a "Mommy Means it NO" type scolding and he just laughed at me then tried it again without the bear's assistance. He is pretty good about going to bed at night so I don't think he would try to get out of a toddler bed while going to sleep but it's the waking up at night and 5:00 in the morning that I'm not crazy about. Then all the babyproofing of his room if he did get out. I don't think I am ready for the big boy bed!

  • Oh no. Sounds like he's going to need the toddler bed or big boy bed unless you wanted to use a net. But could he tear through a net (I've never seen one in person so I don't know how strong they are). Scary! I'll be thinking about you. Yikes!

  • I know this looks ridiculous, but have you thought about one of these? One of my mom's good friends has a 15 month old who was constantly launching himself out of his crib, so she got one and hasn't had any more problems.

  • Jenhum...that's exactly what I was thinking of. I just didn't know if a toddler could tear it up?
