OB rec/have you been to see this OB? VBAC related.

I was seeing a different OB for my first baby, and I ended up needing an emergency c-section due to an infarcted placenta. This OB then told me for subsequent babies I'd need a RCS.

We got a surprise BFP two weeks ago, and I'm now wanting to do VBAC. I found an OB who does them (Dr. Karen Wells at Center for Women's Health at Evergreen), but heard through the grapevine that the c/s has to be more than 2 years from your second delivery. I'm not very happy with this and at least want a TOLAC if possible.

Does anyone know any caregivers in the area (preferably Eastside) that will do VBACs or TOLACs this soon? THANK YOU!

    I would say it is worth speaking to your new OB about.  I see Dr.Hanrahan at the Seattle Women's Clinic and am planning a TOL/VBAC for this baby.  While she recommends 18-24 months between births, I don't know that is mandatory.  Additionally, I was really hesitant with continuing to see her at the beginning of this pregnancy because I wasn't sure how supportive she'd be for a VBAC.

    Since then, at my appointments, we've talked very openly about it and I'm really glad that I stuck with her because honestly, at 8 wks, there just isn't much to say/know about your VBAC chances.  She's completely supportive and has been awesome so far.

    I'd say set up an appointment with the new doc, express your concerns to her and get her opinion.  You can always still switch after that!

    Check out Seattle (International Cesaerean Awareness Network)  ICAN for recs.  I think they have a yahoo group/message board.

    I see ob's at The Pavillion in Everett. From what I have heard/been told it is recommended to have 18 mo between deliveries for a vbac.

    I'm not in this situation, but at my appointment today, the CNMW (who used to be at Center for Women's Health) said that the doctors at Swedish OB Issaquah are open/supportive of VBACs. 

    I'm seeing Dr Scheve off the recommendations of a couple ladies on here.

    I am going through Seattle OBGYN and seeing Dr. Farah DeLaTorres. She specializes in VBAC and delivers at Swedish. I picked her for that reason, but Swedish 1st Hill has a lot of OBs that specialize in VBAC. You should give them a call.

    How was Dr. Scheve? I have my first appt with a NP on Monday, but was thinking about making my second appointment with her. I would love to have a midwife (someone who is flexible) but will be a VBAC.

     I also heard Dr. Austin was pretty relaxed too, so if anyone else has an opinion, I would appreciate it!

    I had an appt with Dr Sheve today and I liked her.  I don't think Sharon (the NP/midwife) is actually doing deliveries right now at Swedish so you have to pick one of the OBs anyway.

    Sounds like her philosophy is not to intervene (inductions etc) unless medically necessary, let you progress on your own body's & baby's timetable.

    Multiple people on this board recommended Dr Sheve when I asked.
