2nd Trimester

for those with hip or back problems

I have been having problems with my hips being unaligned and my lower back bone popping out of place. I was just wondering for any of you that have had any hip or back problems, what they are or were, and what your doctor said about them?

Also if you had them in a previous pregnancy how they effected your delivery and if they continued after pregnancy?

Re: for those with hip or back problems

  • Lurking sorry...  I had the most terrible hip pain starting around 18 weeks and it sucked!  I went to a chiro which helped a ton!! Also got a memory foam mattress topper and slept with a pillow between my legs.  It didn't bother me in labour but I ended up with an emergency c section.  If its of any consolation the hip/tail bone pain was gone immediately after I had my son!

OT: KitKat, can I have your German Shorthair? What a beauty! We have an English and before we knew about LO, I was headed for a German Shorthair companion for him.  Grew up with German Wirehairs and am completely convinced pointers are the best dogs in the world.

On-topic.  I have a lot of hip and back problems from a car accident that resulted in 10 pelvic/hip fractures.  Good news, doc said it should not cause any problems in labor due to everything being so loose in there but will be very hard 3rd trimester to carry that weight.  Put me on an SI belt which should help everything stay aligned.  Seconding all the advice above plus frequent baths with epsom salts to soothe the surrounding muscles.  How I miss my ibuprofen...

  • I have hip and back pain and haven't been able to sleep in bed for 2 weeks now, even with a pillow between my legs and a body pillow for support. I've moved to the recliner. HUGE help!! Also went to physical therapy (I've gone in years past) and this was a huge help. They gave me stretches to do to help lossen up some muscles and tighten other. I'm a FTM so hoping this isn't going to affect labor much. My pelvis displaces from time to time and causes the pinched nerves. Take it easy and good luck!
