Pregnant after IF

Am I just a huge baby?

I just found out that my husband will be overseas on a business trip for eight weeks.  It will be from my 19-27th weeks.  I know this is still a while away, and so far everything is going fine with my pregnancy.  But I am absolutely terrified about him being gone that long, and I cry every time he talks about it.  Honestly, I don't know how single women and those with husbands deployed overseas do it.  Bless your hearts.  So am I just a huge baby?

Not really.  There are only two of them, and they alternate projects.  So if he didn't take this one, he would have to take one closer to or after my due date.  It's the lesser of the evils, but it still makes me sad and lonely.

Me too.  I just can't stop thinking about how much is going to change in those 8 weeks.  We are going to grow so much while he's gone.

  • Well, if you're not used to it I can't say I blame you. Being apart sucks--no matter how long it is. For me personally, 8 weeks is short stint but I've been through multiple year-long deployments. Word of advice: stay busy and the time will fly. Schedule lunch dates, treat yourself to things you wouldn't normally splurge on, etc.

I gave you life, then you gave me mine.

TTC February 2008 to October 2008 One year forced break due to OIF deployment #2
Resumed TTC in October 2009 HSG, Hysteroscopy, S/A all clear

That's great advice, thanks!  I keep really busy during the week, but it's the weekends that are hard. I'm upset about how many things he's going to miss though, like the a/s, Easter, his birthday.  I don't know how you deal with a year long deployment!  You are a stronger woman than I.

It's difficult to give up something you are used to having around.  Just look forward to the time he returns.

  • No, you are not a huge baby. I'd be sad too. Eight weeks is a long time to be gone. My husband and father were gone for 2 weeks at the beginning of my pregnancy, so I packed up the dogs and stayed at my moms the whole time! I will admit, I am a big baby!!

    Hugs.

  • I am a military wife, and have done the deployment thing, and I can tell you I am always a mess when he leaves... Your not a baby, your going to miss him...

We found out that my hubby may not even be here for this birth of our long awaited baby, and I am already upset by it! Its not even official yet, but here I am a hormonal mess already! :o)

Good Luck, and 8 weeks will fly by after the first 2. You wil adjust and it will go by fast! Honest! :o)

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

    Baby Dust To All!!!

  • Oh you are not a baby at all. I hope the time flies for you. Maybe stock up on girly movies, got out with friends, take a class, etc. hugs.

  • I can understand you being upset, but you really should make an effort to stop crying about it. I'm sure he feels bad enough about it as it is, and honestly you being so upset about it probably makes him feel worse. It doesn't sound like it's something he can help.  Sorry if that sounds mean...I don't mean for it to.
  • You're not over reacting, I'd be so upset too! I'm sorry you're dealing with this.
