Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Is this bad?

I have a 22 month old.  She uses sippy cups all through the day, but my husband will not get off the kick of using a bottle when she goes to bed and when she gets up in the morning.  So 2 bottles during the day.  It really bothers me.  The doctor said 18 months absolutely no bottles.   I told my husband absolutely no bottles at 2 years old, he agreed.  So my question, is there anyone out there that still uses a few bottles between 18-24 months?

  • We do the same as you - sippy cups during the day, a bottle in the morning and at night. We are waiting to break the bottle habit until after DS's surgery at the end of this month. We want things to be easy and normal for him during his recovery. Once he's back to his old self we plan to faze them out (paci, too). He is 20 months old.

  • We don't use the bottle in the morning.  It was easy to break because he gets breakfast at DC Monday through Friday so he expects sippy on weekends.  He does get a bottle in the evening.  I am not sure when it will go.  Part of it is he is so damn cute with his excitement of getting a "BA-BA!" of milk before he goes to bed.  I think we are going to start reducing the amount he gets until it is zero.  But my attitude is as long as he does not have a BA-BA!!! before senior prom, I am all good.

  • We do the exact same thing as you.  We really haven't discussed when we were going to take his bottle away.  I am assuming sometime soon?  :-(

  • So if you give your DC a cup first thing in the morning does she refuse? if not pack up the bottles in a box and dont tell DH where they are; if he is the only one using them. Then he can't be an enabler.
