slightly slower growing beta - advice needed

Beta #1 (13 days past IUI) was 55.8

Beta #2 (16 days past IUI) was 99.4

RE really doesn't know what to make of it since my numbers didn't double, but I can't help but think they wren't all that far off. I don't know if I'm just making excuses to help myself feel better or not, but I'm really upset. Should I just start dealing with the fact that this pregnancy won't stick or do you think there's hope?

Anyone else have a slow growing beta that turned out fine?

I have seen slow-growing betas turn out fine, but I thought the rule was that they double (or at least 60% according to my doctor) in 48 hours. This looks like 72, no?What does your doctor say?

they want th enumbers to double within 72 hours - and mine are a little shy of doubling. doctor doesn't really know what to think about it and i'm coming in for another Beta on Thursday.

Unfortunately, I think that's all you can do at this point. It could go eitther way, so hopefully the next one is more than enough!

There's a PAIFer on here who had similar betas and it turned out it was a vanishing twin, but she's still carrying one baby.

My numbers were low and slow too, but I am still pregnant...

Just take it one day at a time, and try to enjoy the fact that your pregnant today... )

Hey there,

I had slow rising betas. My first beta started at 49, 14dpo. The second beta, two days later was only 50. I was crushed. My RE even told me it was OK to grieve. She had me come in two days later for another beta, it jumped to 98, two days later it was 279. It turned out I had a vanishing twin, and my little guy was also just a slow starter.

I'm now 20 weeks with a baby boy and though I'm high risk, everything is actually going really well!!

They want to see it double within 72. Most people assume the 48 hour rule, but reality is many healthy pregnancies take longer. Mine never doubled in 48 .. always in the 60-70 hour range.

At the same time, my numbers were slightly higher. I've seen some REALLY low numbers and everything turns out fine. So hang in there!!!

It's definitely still possible that everything will be okay. Are they going to do another beta in a couple of days?

My betas were only doubling one time per week for a while. My RE was very concerned and told us to prepare for miscarriage. I'm 28 weeks pregnant now and everything has been fine

My betas startec slow as well. 45 at 14dpo then 68 at 16dpo. But the 3rd one jumped to 318. I have hope for yours. Wishing you GL on your next beta and hope that you'll be joining us soon.

I'm late to post here but I hope the OP is still checking back. I'm another slow riser, and I was anxious as hell during the week of beta testing. I was 43 at 10dp5dt, but they wanted to see a number over 50. At 12dp5dt it doubled to 105. Because of the initial low number, they asked me to come back again and at 14dp5dt it was 199. Not the true "double" they wanted so I had to go back AGAIN at 16dp5dt, at which time it was 573. By then, I didn't know if that was still enough or if I would need to come back so I couldn't even get excited about it! At any rate, I'm now 29 weeks, 4 days pregnant with absolutely no risk factors so it's fair to say that sometimes those little embies just grow at their own pace and not necessarily at the rate the statistics prefer.
