Awhile back I remember a thread about picky eaters and the challenges they pose for their parents and hosts and I had to share a funny related story from DD's playdate today. We hosted 2 of DD#1's friends at our place today because school was out and one of them was a fairly picky eater--her mom brought her lunch...which she (the kid) decided she didn't want...but she also didn't really want much of what I was offering either. In the afternoon, I offered the girls popcorn for snack. As I was getting it out (it was the microwave kind...generic from Safeway, low salt and butter), here is the conversation we had:
DD's friend: Does that popcorn have chemicals in it?
Me: Um...I guess there might be some.
friend: Well, then I don't think I should have any. My mom said I shouldn't have chemicals. They are bad for you.
Me: Well, that's true, you should try to avoid extra chemicals. But my guess is that the chemicals in this bag are fairly small.
friend: yea, well, I had some chemicals a couple of days ago, so I don't think I should have anymore.
Me: (desperately trying not to bust out laughing)
End result: she ate the popcorn. Asked for more and then asked for a chewy fruit snack.
I guess she got over her chemical concern.
LOL
