What was the reason for your initial c-section?
I am not pregnant, but I am worried as I had PROM, and never went into labor. It took 10 hours to go from 1 cm to 5 cm on pit. DS was head down, but ever so slighty turned so he wasn't really helping me dilate. As my OB stitched me up, she said I was a good candidate for a VBAC.
Re: ? for those with a successful VBAC?
My water broke on it's own afte rabout 8 hours of contractions. When I got to my midwives, I was not even 2 cm dilated. DS was head down,. but like yours, turned slightly so he wasn't helping th dilation. He went into distress which caused the c/s. They determined that part of his cord was caught under him.
For my VBAC, I was induced with pit and it took over 10 hours to get me to 5 cm, so don't worry about that! It was about 18 hours of labor and I was still at 5 cm at hour 16. Sometimes it takes a while to get that baby out:-)
With DD: My water broke before labor at 39w6d, so I also ended up being a c/s due to PROM/failed induction according to the operative report. I never got past 4 cm on max pitocin after 22+hours. My OB felt it was "best" to have a c/s since I was nearing 24 hours of ruptured membranes.... ::shakes fist in hindsight:: DD had also turned OP and was at an angle, according to my OB. She also said I'd be a good candidate for a VBAC.
With DS: Switched to a hospital midwife group. Went into labor on my own at 41w1d. I had a long 30+ hours of early labor (likely due to exhaustion and a pulled back muscle). After a "whiff" of pitocin I went from 4-10 in two hours. Pushed for 13 mins while upright and squatting, and DS was out! He was OA and in optimal position according to my midwife.

ds #2 prom at 7am 2 hours later contractions began 4 min apart then 2-3 i didnt need pitocin, because by noon i was a 7. i progressed easily but it was a hard labor. everyone is different every baby is different.
i will be doing another vbac this time.
I had a c-section because DS1 was breech. I never dilated or went into labor when I was delivered at 39 weeks 4 days
I then went on to have a successful VBAC with DS2

I was pre-e and small for gestational age. Both were misdiagnosed.
With my VBAC I was foley/Pit induced at 39w 5d for gestational hypertension. I had a diagnosis of gestational hypertension from 28 weeks on. Gestational hypertension doesn't usually affect the baby, but I wanted to avoid having mag. So once my BP was over 150/100 the Dr. felt it was best to go ahead and induce. And I am glad we did. Everything went great!
