MDO/Preschool Question

Did your children get sick more often after they started MDO or preschool? I'm thinking of starting DD in the fall, but I'm nervous about this and the possibility of me being pregnant and having CF. I'd like to start her in something because I think she would like it and it would give me time to rest and go to the doctor, (and give me some alone time with a new baby if I get lucky enough to get PG soon). But I'm not sure if I'm taking a risk with lots of colds being brought home. She already goes to Gymboree, gym daycare, and playgroup, so I'm hoping that means she's already being exposed the same amount as she would be in a preschool, (and she's been pretty healthy), but I'd love to hear your experiences/thoughts!

Re: MDO/Preschool Question

  • I think if she is already going to Gymboree, gym daycare and playgroup then you will be fine. I think MDO has no more germs and might actually be cleaner(depending on where you go) then gymboree and the gym! I say go for it!!

  • L doesn't get any more sick in preschool than he did when SIL watched him out of her home. He's exposed to germs regardless at parks, the store, etc.

Ditto. Both Jack and Tommy came home w/ sniffles/runny nose when they first joined MDO, but we hadn't done Gymboree or any other regular play activities beyond playgroups w/ friends.

Signing Jack up for MDO the year that Tommy was born was invaluable. It gave me time to bond w/ just Tops and rest during the morning nap. It was just two days a week, but it was needed.

Campbell hasn't been sick more often since joining MDO.

And I have to give a big, fat ditto to what MC said above.

  • Yay! This is what I was hoping to hear. Thank you for the responses!

  • #1 did not get more sick, but #2 did.  Which I thought was weird and would be the other way around.
