Labor and Deliver - UMMC vs St. Agnes

So we recently found out we are expecting, however this has now started a debate of where we deliver.  I'd like to have my own personal suite where we can be alone and not have to share a room with anyone else.

 I was just wondering if anyone in the area has delivered at either hospital, and what your expereinces were?

    No experience at either hospital, but my friend had her boys at St. Agnes and had a private room. She enjoyed her experience there. Congrats on your pregnancy...have a healthy 9 months.

    I don't have experience at either hospital, but it seems that the trend in baby-having is that all the rooms are singles, both delivery and recovery at most hospitals now.

    I was told by someone that delivered at St. Agnes that they took her baby away from her when she transferred rooms from the delivery to the recovery room and that this was hospital policy.  I wouldn't want someone taking my newborn away from me during that time and wouldn't want to have to put up a fight for that either.  I would ask the hospital if that is still their policy.  And I do have to say that one of my fav. midwives works at UMMC (Megan Saap if you are interested).

    Do you have an OB in the area?  My OB only delivers at St. Agnes so that's where I'll be.  they recently ( past several years) built a new maternity wing so it's nicer than the St. Agnes I knew growing up lol.

    Something to keep in mind is that St. Agnes is Catholic (and UMMC is not) so that may make a difference in certain circumstances.
