If you know me, you know I'm pretty laid back. So laid back I'm 34 weeks and have a car seat and PNP that'll be here tomorrow. Other than that, I have a pump, no bottles, some clothes and that's it.
It isn't long now and I don't even remember what I need for a newborn. We sold almost everything before the move.
Help. What else do we need on hand. And tell me everything will be ok.
Re: Starting to panic a little...
swadddle blankets
pacifiers
diapers/wipes/ diaper cream
nursing pads? I REALLY needed them as soon as my milk came in
lanolin?
laundry detergent
extra sheets for crib/PNP
I'm of the mind that you don't need most of the other crap. Do you have somewhere safe to lay LO down while you go to the bathroom or take a shower? A bouncer or something?
Swaddling blankets and a white noise machine were also necessities for us. And a good baby carrier, of course! If you're going to get bottles I loved the Dr. Brown's but all of the fiddly parts got aggravating, so we switched to the Playtex Drop-ins. Where's baby going to sleep?
You could just get a changing pad and throw it on top of a dresser or on the floor to avoid buying a changing table.
Free and Clear detergent for baby, too.
It will all be okay. You can take care of this in one shopping trip.
Things I'd want immediately upon the baby's arrival--burp cloths (cloth prefold diapers are what I use), a few receiving blankets, something to swaddle with (my favorite is the mira cl e bla nket), a boppy, baby nail files, diapers, wipes, baby wash, baby wash cloths (I like regular towels but the baby wash cloths are a nice size for baby washing), 2 or 3 crib sheets for whatever the baby is sleeping in, and 2 or 3 fluffy baby blankets.
Things I'd want pretty soon--a bouncer that vibrates (#1 hated this but #2 loooved to sleep in the vibrating chair), diaper genie and refills (we love ours but not everyone does), baby bath tub, and maybe a sling and/or swing.
From reading the other responses--I'd add pacifiers, diaper rash cream, and a changing pad and cover to the shopping list.
Also baby tylenol. I know you can't use it right away, but it's good to have on hand because the first time you need it will be at 3 am on a holiday,
I felt like we needed so little when we brought #2 home. The car seat, the place to sleep, and the ways to feed. A few packs of diapers. Everything else we accomplished with a trip to Target 2 weeks after she came home.
It's *so* going to be okay. You've done this before, remember?! Piece of cake.
(read it. you know you want to.)

You'll be fine! All the baby's really going to need is diapers, a family, and a home, and you have all those.
Beyond that, the diaper rash cream of your choice, pacifiers if you think (s)he'll want them, um... Blankets for swaddling... Bottles if you're not planning to EBF... Okay, clearly I'm not much help. But really, since you've done this before, you'll pick it back up fast. Anything you need that you don't already have, you can run out to get after baby's here, or you can send H and Mr. Husband out on a shopping run while you enjoy some quiet time with your new sweetheart. And the hospital will probably send you home with a few of the essentials too.
You've so got this. Chill. It's gonna be great.
I don't have anything to add but you've gotten some great tips so far!
You can do this! Easy peasy ;-)
this. and bring a large bag to clear out all the supplies from the hospital.
ditto PP - take as much as you can from the hospital. I asked for a few soothies pacifiers and nipple shields and took those home along w/ the elastigel (is that what it's called?) and lanolin, and all the other freebies (diapers, wipes, scrub brush, etc). Seriously though, you can do it and it will all be fine. DD2 is now 2 weeks old and we have not had to go out and get anything that we did not already have. The PNP and diapers/clothes/blankets are really all you REALLY need right away. Oh, and alcohol for the umbilical cord stump.
You'll be fine!
You will want some pads for you. I know I needed more than I could swipe from the hospital. (this is c/s or vag. delivery)
Maybe a frozen meal or two so when you get home neither you nor DH will have to cook.
