vitamins

I take a multi vitamin centrium everyday. My husband and are getting ready to start ttc this month. Is it ok to continue taking this vitamins while trying to conceive?. I started taking daily because of it containing folic acid (I'm not a fan of vegetables and know that folic acid is important).Any help with this question would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Smile

IUI #1 (Follistim switched over to Menopur injections) - BFN

Attempted IUI #2 (Menopur injections only cycle) better response on the Menopur then the Follistim combination treatment cycle however my cycle was still canceled due to my eggs not maturing and follicles not growing enough on a high dose of Menopur (Re said I could try a cycle of comid + ovidrel  for an IUI) for my second IUI( praying this works for us)

Clomid + Ovidrel protocol worked still a BFN as a result

Attempted cycle  Clomid  + Ovidrel protocol for IUI # 3 (Unable to do this cycle due to a cyst)

IUI # 3 Clomid+ Ovidrel protocol - BFP    Beta #1 752  Beta #2  1536    Beta #3 3797

Re: vitamins

  • I wouldn't see why it would be a problem but if you are concerned you could always switch over to a prenatal vitamin.  Good luck!

  • Thanks. I wasn't sure I guess I could continue taking the regular multivitamin and then when I do find out i'm pregnant talk to my gyn and ask if I need to switch over to a prenatal.

  • Prenatal vitamins make me sick. I started taking Folic Acid when I went off of birth control. Now that I'm prego again the Dr gave me the OK for Flintstones Complete chewables, as long as I take DHA too.

  • My entire 1st preg (& while TTC) I used a Centrum Multi-Vit.  My OB said it was fine as long as it had the folic acid.

  • Thanks. I was thinking I would be ok with continuing to take my Centrium Multi-Vitamins but wasn't sure.

  • It's usually recommended that you take at least 600mcg of folic acid daily when pregnant, so just check the label on your multi-vitamin. You could just continue to take that and add a folic acid supplement if your vitamin doesn't have enough folic acid.

Most prenatal vitamins are not that different from a regular women's multi-vitamin. They usually just have a little more of a few things (like folic acid, iron, zinc, etc).

  • I take the Target brand Pre-natals that are gummy and contain DHA.  They don't make me sick and my doctor was fine with them.
