Babies: 3 - 6 Months

diarrhea and a yeast infection?

I went to the doctor today because my DS has a lingering cold.  The cold is fine, but she told me that the diaper rash that JUST popped up today while he was at daycare is actually a yeast infection!  How common is this, and how can I prevent it in the future?  She gave us a prescription cream to use to get rid of it this time.

Also, any way to get rid of his diarrhea?  He IS on solids twice a day but we've only really done veggies so far... He's almost 6 months.

Any remedies/prevention tips for either diarrhea or yeast infections?  Thanks in advance!

Re: diarrhea and a yeast infection?

  • Just thought I'd say dd had a pretty bad yeast diaper rash which I'm fairly certain was caused by my being on two rounds of antibiotics. (bf)

If you or lo have been on antibiotics that commonly causes yeast to grow

  • Same as if you had a yeast infection, you can try giving him infant probiotics.  There is a brand called BioGaia that we use (just for his digestive system, he doesnt have YI rash)

  • probiotics and the BRAT diet helped my guy.  Rice cereal, bananas, and applesauce helped (we didn't toast because he wasn't old enough)
