I keep reading that it doesn't do jack, but with how gassy and uncomfortable my little guy has been lately I'm at my wits end. Anyone have any positive results from using gripe water? Or is it just a placebo to make inexperienced FTMs like myself feel like they are doing something to help their LO? ![]()

Re: Gripe water?
All of this for me too. I still have a bottle of gripe water in our fridge, but we haven't used it in several weeks.
We also have Mommy's Bliss and like it. It has definitely helped on several occasions - I think it soothes the stomach (ginger &fennel). But maybe if thats not what is bothering LO it won't work
ETA: I have seen other post about a different brand (not sure which one), but it is the only "FDA approved" one. However, it also contains charcoal and is black?! IDK, even though Mommy's bliss isn't FDA approved I feel more comfortable giving my LO ginger & fennel rather than charcoal....
We use Mommy's Bliss. He seems to have less gas than when we started, but I have no idea if that's the gripe water or just his digestive tract maturing.
The best use we have found for it is that one dropper full of it instantly stops his hiccups, without fail. It's like magic. (Embarrassingly, I even tried it myself for kicks once when I had hiccups, but of course it didn't work.)
You're talking about Colic Calm--it's vegetable carbon that they have in it, and it's the secret ingredient. It "attracts" the gas bubbles like a magnet, and then it all passes thru baby, relieving your LO of pain. You can read about vegetable carbon here--scroll down the ingredient list until you get to it:
