3rd Trimester

Are these signs of the beginning of labor?

Thursday was my due date...

Friday I went to my appointment and I was only a fingertip dilated. My OB pushed me to 1 cm. Satursday I lost part of my mucus plug. Early this morning aroun 0530 I had some bloody show. From 0610-0730 I had contractions every 10 minutes on the dot. Since then, just some spotting, cramps, fatigue, nausea, dull back aches, and occasional contractions here or there. I called the doctor and she said it's all normal.

Does this sound like the beginnings of the labor process? I'm a FTM so I'm new to all this.

TIA

  • I would say yes. Just try to relax and let nature do it's thing.

  • Hey Tia,

My due date was also on Thursday. No baby yet. I am pretty much going through all the same things you are except for the bloody show yet and nothing going on. Still home, on the couch watching superbowl. BUT at least now I know I'll get to watch the superbowl and no one in the hospital will be trying to see it while I'm having a baby. hehe ;)

  • Definitely sounds like early labor to me. I had all of those symptoms when I was in early labor with DD.

  • So, being that these sounds like the signs of early labor, how long did you experience them before you went into full on labor?

  • Based on the classes I have taken, sounds like it could be the beginning. Since there isn't much you, or anyone at the hospital can do right now, just relax and try to pass the time! :) Hopefully your baby is on its way!!

  • That sounds a lot like my first labor! I woke up with contractions on a Friday morning, but they weren't bad and were about 10-15 minutes apart. I sent my husband to work, packed my bag (yeah, procrastinator) and did everything I could to rest!

I was able to sleep and eat and even had friends over that night to watch silly movies!

On Saturday it got bad. On Sunday I went to the hospital and was already 7 cm. gave birth 6 hours after arriving!

  • I could only hope for a short delivery. Lol. I wonder if genetics plays a role in it. My mom was in labor with me for 5 hours and had me natural. Maybe I will be the same with my baby. We will see...

  • I think so. I had all of the above but my water broke (just a tiny bit) before I really had any regular contractions.
