WWYD- free airfare

My brother is offering me $500 in airfare for a voucher he can't use. 

If you could have $500 towards airfare and were on a budget (probably $1000 or less?), where would you go?  It would probably have to be just a few nights at the most, like a long weekend.

ETA I am in Virginia and most likely would fly out of Dulles (washington dc), if that makes any difference

    I'd go stay with family or an old friend. You can save money on a hotel and your friends or family can show you their town and probably free or low costs things to do.

    This is what I was thinking.   We have a big family event coming up in Boston in May that we probably will have to skip because we can't afford the trip.  So I'd use it for that.  But if that wasn't on the calendar, I'd visit a part of the US where I have friends or relatives (for us it would be FL, Boston, Chicago, or San Francisco, probably) and try to catch up with people I haven't seen in a while.

    BTW, I know I owe you a PM - I hope to dig out of my work chaos at some point today or tomorrow to respond.  Hope you had a great weekend!

    We can't go out of the country because DD doesn't have her passport yet.  We are planning on getting her one tomorrow, but the voucher has to be used before March 6.
