Cleaning Girls

I'm obviously a ftm and have no clue what I'm doing!  LO is 4 mos old and I still don't know if I'm cleaning her correctly.  Are you supposed to spread all the folds and cracks apart to clean?  I try to at least once a day but DH won't do it at all and says I shouldn't be.  He says that it will irritate her.  Sometimes she has creamy looking white stuff in there and I worry about yeast (she keeps thrush off and on) so I clean her.

    I was told by our pedi to clean the white stuff out but don't go overboard.  I usually do it with just a wet washcloth when she gets a bath.  That's one thing people didn't warn me about with girls lol.  I wasn't expecting it.

    Thanks for this question and response! I noticed the same thing. I try to clean it out without digging at her . . .

    I try to clean the folds and cracks each time she has a bm, but clean her "normally" for just wet changes.  I also do more thorough cleaning when she gets a bath with a wet washcloth.  GL!

    I have never seen any white creamy stuff. But just be very gentle and don't go overboard. We do a bath every day and that helps.

    My DD has the same stuff. I try to clean her every time I change her but I clean her more thoroughly during her baths. Like everyone else I would say clean her but don't go overboard. (BTW my midwife says it's just discharge and a result of all my hormones. It should go away with time.)

    GREAT question!! I am a FTM and I have 1 nephew so when I had a girl diaper changes were all new to me lol...My first time I was like omg all these folds and creases;0 If she has a BM I clean everything 2x,,usually urine if she isn't fussy I clean 1x...and during bath I make sure to get the white stuff out ( Nurse at hospital mentioned it protects them?) Also I always make sure to wipe top to bottom....and educated my DH on this also! GL!
