Pregnant after IF

Acupuncture after BFP?

Did any of you ladies continue your acu treatments after BFP?

My acupuncturist recommended coming a few more weeks, but I feel a little hesitant. TIA!

Re: Acupuncture after BFP?

  • I did acu post BFP to cope with migraines and it was really helpful since I could not take my usual meds for them.c

  • I go every week. It slows down to every other week or so in the 2nd tri, and then back up to weekly to help with aches and pains in the 3rd tri. It's totally fine as long as your acu is versed in the proper fertility techniques.

  • Yes - I continued to go for once a week until after first trimester. Now I go once per month and when it gets closer to delivery, I'll probably go once per week or every other week.

  • Hey lady!  Glad to see you over here.  I am still doing acu now about every 2-3 weeks to help with sleeping and constipation issues (tmi, sorry).

My acu wouldn't see me after my BFP until 10 weeks, though (fear of liability if I happened to have a m/c, much like most massage therapists won't touch you until second tri), but I know many people keep going right through 1st tri to help with morning sickness.  It's up to you what you'd rather do.

  • I went in at about 5 weeks, mostly for anxiety, and then again 2 weeks ago for nausea (helped SO MUCH). I'm going again in 2 days for nausea, and then I'll probably go every 3-4 weeks unless I have specific issues that I want help with. Likely more often at the end.

  • I have continued to go more or less every 2 weeks, and will continue throughout this pregnancy.

  • I am still seeing mine.  I was going about once a month and then twice a week for the last few weeks.  I have found it very beneficial.  She is able to help me with my water retention, general discomfort & the few days I had nausea it was gone instantly.  Now she is helping me progress in order to make my induction easier.  I went from nothing on a thurs, saw her Sat and was at 1.5cm & 80% the next thurs.

  • I asked my acu about this last week.  She said every week during the first tri, once a month or every 3 weeks during the second tri, then every week again during the third tri.  To save money, I am doing it every 10 days during the 1st tri.

It has helped me with my heart burn and acid reflux so far (I had it during the IVF meds as well as still have it right now).  Acu said it can help with all of the aches and pains during pregnancy.  She also said it can help the baby's position and encouraging labor as well.

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
