NBR: cake and filling suggestions needed :-)

For valentines day, I bought this fun cake pan so me and DD could bake a cake..

I don't want to put just icing in the heart middle- I feel like that would be icing overkill. So.. Give me some yummy ideas for a cake and filling, please! :-)

    Yum! Are you making it with red velvet cake?

    If you are, how about bavarian cream tinted pink?

    Or if you wanted simpler, you could mix whipped topping and pudding together (not sure whipped topping alone would hold up the cake since it's such a big part of it). Add fresh chopped strawberries or raspberries to make it even yummier.

    Or.... could you fill it with ice cream and freeze the whole thing?

    I think a red velvet cake heart would be adorable!  I'd go with a vanilla cake to surround it so that the heart pops out though.  You could add red and pink sprinkles to the batter so it's like Funfetti! 

    Then ice the cake with something like a raspberry buttercream and then when it's cold, pour chocolate ganache over the top and let it drip over the sides! 

    I love the ice cream idea that PP said, but I love ice cream cakes in general :)

    If you need recipes for anything just ask, I've got a ton!
