My husband is going to become an Air Force officer this summer and we just found out he's scheduled to attend OCS on July 2. I am due June 28!
He's going to try and see if he can enter OCS a week late so he can be here, but I just don't see the military being ok with that. Has anyone ever heard of that?!
Re: DH Might Miss Birth Because of OCS :( :(
I'm sure there's a way he can request his class start date be changed. It doesn't hurt to try. Of course, the best interest of the Air Force is priority so it may not be possible.
My husband was part of NCORP and had to re-train into a new job. His tech school was a little over four months so he tried to get his date pushed up so he wouldn't miss the birth of our LO (his grad date was a week after my due date). The MPF tried to get it changed, but there was no available slots so it was denied. My DD was born four weeks early though, so it probably wouldn't have mattered anyhow.
They might be able to put him into a later class. They told my DH that if he wanted to go to OCS that he had to do it the week before our big wedding (had done a JOP one earlier). He said that he couldn't go then and we were lucky enough that they offered him a later date.

I dont think they would let him start a week late, I think they would just push him to a later class date. When my husband was at OTS my mother passed away and he was about 6 weeks in. They told him if he left for the funeral he would have to start over. Needless to say he stayed!!!
