Public restrooms and LO

Having to use the public restrooms with the LO is hard enough and I'm used to seeing moms pack the stall with all their kids, but it got me wondering about how DH is going to deal with that when she's older and using the toilet.

How do dads handle taking their kids to use the public restrooms when they are the only parent around, especially if they have a daughter?

  • I guess I'm more concerned when she's older, like 2-5 year old range.

Would what the previous poster said still hold true? I mean it is just what dad's half to do. I am sure dad can tell your daughter to look at the ground till they get to the stall if you are worried about her seeing something she shouldn't or whatever.

  • He will wait until *the coast is clear* and then take her into a stall.

  • My husband has had to take our 5 year old several times as she is a Daddy's Girl.  He makes her cover her eyes and he'll guide her into the stall.  Even while washing hands he makes her keep her eyes closed while he washes her hands.  LOL  I thought he was lying for the longest time about some men bathrooms not having diaper changing stations in them.  Until.... yes, I snuck in one at the beach because my then 3 YO had to use it fast and the women's had a line out the door!  (No men came in until we were washing our hands :)
