Soooo frustrated with insurance companies

Two weeks ago, DH was in a fender bender. The most important thing--no one was hurt. But our little truck is not drivable. The other driver was at fault, and got a ticket. So we have been trying for two weeks to get our car to the shop, get a rental car, and get the other guy's insurance company to pay for it all. It finally seemed like everything would be fine last Friday. They had approved a rental car, the appraisal for our truck had come in, and we had contacted the body shop to get our truck moved over there and repaired. Nightmare is almost behind us!

Until today. See, it turns out the other guy was in a rental car. So now the insurance company is saying that the rental company is responsible, and won't authorize an extension of our rental car. Oh and also, the rental car co says they're not responsible. So freaking awesome.

Sorry for rambling, I'm just so frustrated I could cry. And this should be a happy day! We had our NT scan this morning and it went great. Healthy baby, yay! Frustrating insurance, argh.

Re: Soooo frustrated with insurance companies

  • Hmm I used to work in insurance. The other driver's insurance should have carried over the his use of the rental car. You really shouldn't be having these problems. I'm so sorry! I hope it all gets figured out quickly. Is your agent helping you out at all? They should be able to help you get it figured out. Good luck!!

Yes, I would go through your insurance and let them fight it out. Either way, you shouldn't be paying and should get a rental car to help you!

  • yay for a great NT scan! and that stinks about the insurance company. like PP said, see if you can get your agent to fight it out. the ins. company of the person at fault should be paying for it all.
  • No advice, but how frustrating!!  Hope it resolves quickly!
