It's been a while since my last BFP (with DS in 09...)
Just called the dr office and I'm going to get blood taken when DS gets up from his nap (I will call nurse in 24 hours for results)- and they scheduled me for our "pre-natal consultation" (which is just getting information and genetic information) on March 1st (I will be 9 weeks along)...
we don't meet with the dr (for h/b check, pap, etc) until March 12th (I will be almost 12 weeks pregnant at that time).
Is that a normal scheduling?? I feel like it's so long to wait to hear a heartbeat!!
Re: Dr appt schedule?
doctors and practices do vary, but my first appt (for this pregnancy) with my ob was at 11 weeks. they don't even see patients before 8 weeks. with my son i didn't know i was pregnant and had my confirmation appt at 8 weeks, then first ob appt was at like 10 or 11 weeks when they sent me for an u/s (only because i had no clue how far along i was) and found out i was 12 weeks.
to be honest i know it's hard to wait, but i like going in for the first appt later rather than earlier (and in healthy no risk situations) because you will actually get to hear the heart beat (well not 100% but most likely they will be able to find it) but that's just me.
I think everyone's doctors are different. I am very lucky - this is my first pregnancy and my doc saw me the day after the positive pregnancy test which was a little over 4 weeks.. that's when I got my blood taken, pap, and confirmation of pregnancy. Then I saw her again at 6 weeks and had an ultrasound at that point and saw/heard the heart beat (this was an unplanned appt bc I was spotting so she wanted to be safe and ordered me an ultrasound) ... Then saw her again at 8.5 weeks for the genetic/medical background testing and more blood...
Getting our 12 week ultra sound and NT scan tomorrow and we are so excited!! I have also heard a lot of doctors won't see you AT ALL until 8 - 10 weeks.. there is NO way I could have waited that long... but then again this is my first pregnancy so I feel like us women are a lot more neurotic with the first one!!
Good luck!
I had a family history last week at 9 weeks, this week I have my actual prenatal appointment (10 weeks.) After that it's every four weeks.
