July 2012 Moms

A few things I didn't know before getting pregnant:

Just some silly things I've noticed:

I didn't know that our bill concerning toilet paper was going to practically double! haha! I also never guessed that I was going to become a TP snob - frequent pee-ers need luxury!

I didn't know that my spare tire was going to give me a crazy pointy little bump! I can't wait for everything to smooth out a bit. :D Does anyone else have a wacky looking belly situation?

I didn't know that I could have actual feelings for a stool softener (juuuust kidding. but seriously, Miralax, if it weren't for my husband, we'd run away together)

 Ok, now it's your turn!

Re: A few things I didn't know before getting pregnant:

  • I never knew that pregnancy would make me sneeze constantly! It's the weirdest, most annoying thing!

I never imagined my my ab muscles would create dents in my bump.

Or that frequent vomiting would cause petechia all over my face!

I also never knew that I would crave foods that I actually hate, and enjoy eating them!

  • I never knew that I would basically become a teenager all over again, queue the acne and emotional outburst "You're being mean to me!!!! Waaaaaaaa!!!"  (While SO laughs - because I can't remember what was mean, only that it was).

  • I never knew...That it wasn't a "wonderful experience full of happiness everyday" No pregnant person ever says, my boobs doubled, I have mood swings, I have sharp ligament pains tearing apart my stomach, my clothes look terrible, how really uncomfortable you will be. You'll get back-acne.Your nose will be constantly stuffy. That you'll worry so darn much about everything and that there were so many no-no's to this adventure. How all of the negative things are worth the experience... people really are super excited for you, ultrasounds are amazing and in the end there is nothing more incredible then being a mom!

When you ask someone how they are being pregnant, "Great" is all I've ever been told.

  • I never realized how many bras I would have to buy because my boobs just keep growing.

I didn't know that I would be so concerned about how much weight I've gained, I thought I would just gain it and have a cute bump, not feel bloated and like a blob.

I never realized I would have to put so much thought into baby gear... which crib, which stroller, which carrier....

  • I had no idea that I would wake up at 3 o'clock in the morning every single night.

I didn't know about the headaches.

I never thought I'd actually have cleavage.

  • I never knew:

    - That being pregnant would cause me to sneeze and pee a little at the same time.

    - That my nipples would be the size of half-dollars and really sore this entire time.

I have learned so much from reading books and online and from the The Bump it's crazy! Before I was prego:

    - Doppler only had to do with weather/radar

    - Colostrum? Sounds like a weird disease or maybe a harp-like instrument

    - Abbreviations like DH, DS, DD, FTM, BFP were unknown/foreign to me :)

  • As this was a HUGE surprise, I didn't know I would ever be pregnant again:)

  • I didn't know I would yearn so badly to know the gender of my child.

I didn't know I would lose all interest in food.

I didn't know I would go from brushing my teeth for 3 minute intervals to 20 seconds with mouthwash afterwards because I don't want to throw up.

I didn't know crying would come so easy or that the urge to cry would be so often.

I didn't know all the energy would be sucked out of me making me feel like a lazy couch potato.

I didn't know I would go from the occasional tossing and turning during the night to the wake up every 20 minutes and turn over until it's 3am and I have to pee.

I'm ashamed of what I've done for a Klondike bar. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

OMG this! I feel so stupid and naiive when I complain about my pregnancy (and mine hasn't even been THAT bad. I'm just a super wuss.). How come no one ever told me the bad stuff??? I'm glad my DH loves me so much/isn't smart enough to leave :P

And I always wondered why baby bottle nipples were so wide, because my nipples were so small, and there was NO way those nips were "just like mom's". After being in pain for the last 3 months, my nipples ARE as wide as bottle nipples! It's ridiculous! Nature has a funny way of preparing us for things...i giggle when I compare my nips to DH's now. hahaha :)

  • I didn't know that nosebleeds were going to be a part of my morning routine.

I too have to agree that being constipated is almost worse than IBS and the gas is out of control.  Gas-x is my BFF.

That when baby kicks you it can hurt...really bad sometimes.

That RLP and Braxton Hicks can make you feel like you're being stabbed and shocked at the same time.

  • I never thought I'd obsess this much over what other potentially harmful thing that I'm doing that "might" be hurting the baby.

I never thought that I'm the type of women who would want to talk about my pregnancy with anyone/everyone.

I never thought that I'd exercise diligently just so that I don't gain too much weight.

  • I didn't realize that I would literally say 'Oh, thank you God!' everytime I'm actually able to poop. It's like a small miracle to me. I can't believe this is what my life has come to ... Indifferent

  • I didn't realize how terrifying it would be to become pregnant, and how terrified I am at becoming a FTM.

  • This is a fun post!!

I never knew that sleeping could be so enjoyable, yet so unenjoyable at the same time.

I never knew that I'd actually not care that the number on the scale is going up.

I never knew that I'd be hoping for RLP so I know the baby is okay.
