I still have about 15 lbs to go to get to pre-pregnancy weight. I'm kind of not working too hard at it for the next couple weeks while I move, but lost 9 lbs in January by doing Weight Watchers. I kind of think the whole "it falls right off when you breastfeed" is one enormous myth, as I'm hungry ALL the time, but wondered if it was just me. And Jenna Fischer.
Re: EBF mamas: babyweight loss
I have 10 lbs to lose until I'm at pre-baby weight and although I can now walk at lunch at work, I highly doubt I'll be able to hit the gym anytime soon on my schedule. DH has the baby in the mornings and works at night and I have him at night and work during the day. Not making excuses, but I'm still going to bed shortly after the baby since I get up several times a night and get up for work at 5:30am.
Oh wait...those oreos I ate today didn't help much either.
I was starving for the first few weeks and am still hungrier than I used to be, but I'm also more careful about what I eat and eating healthier than I did pre-pregnancy. But I think that, just like all things pregnancy/baby-related, it's different for each person. BF certainly seems to have sped up my sluggish metabolism and I luckily was one of those mythical moms (by 1.5 weeks pp I was only 5lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight and now I'm about 5lbs under it). But now I'm starting to think that when BFing is done, I'll probably go back to my sluggish metabolism and struggle again.
Congrats on the 9lbs, that's awesome! Hope that WW continues to work for you.

I actually have lost some weight, 10 lbs below my prepregnancy weight. However, I was overweight to begin with. I think that having my baby has changed my hypothyroid condition for the better, somehow. I was 176 before, and now I'm 165.5. However, it's not pretty, and I have a lovely fat shelf above my c-section scar. No one has noticed that I weigh less than before. I am not watching the quantities of what I eat, and I feel like I am hungry all the time!
Ive lost all my weight now, and I did when I BFed Jack as well. I think it depends on the person. That and stress, I am totally stressed out, and I honestly think that contributed to me losing the final 3lbs that had been hanging around.
That said...Im not back to my normal shaped, which was proven when I squeezed into a pair of jeans this weekend and completely split them right down the butt. So awesome.
I'm down to my pre-preg weight and have been for a little while, but my body is so so different. Most of my jeans still don't fit
I'm hungry a lot too, but more thirsty. I have never been more thirsty in my life.
I gained 25lbs during my pregnancy and lost 20 of that within the first month. The last 5 pounds, as I've said in other similar posts, are in my boobs. I am a firm believer of that.
I fit into my prepreg jeans, but I have a total muffin top. I caved and bought a pair of semi-mom jeans to cover the muff top.
I have 1 lb to go to reach pre-pregnancy weight (I tell myself it's the extra milk in the boobs) and I fit into a couple pairs of pre preg jeans, but I definitely don't look the same and many of my work pants don't fit. I exercise a fairly good amount (4x week) and it has had no effect on my supply. I BF every 2 hours and I pump an extra 8 ounces after the morning feeding.
I'm still 6 lbs from my goal weight - or at least the weight I hope will get me back into many of my work suits. I'm trying to avoid sweets and just continue my workout schedule (which is more difficult this month as DH is away for two weeks and we'll be on vacation for a week).
I try to eat protein when I'm really hungry too - generally peanut butter on wheat crackers. I also find I do best when I don't keep unhealthy snacks in the house...because I'm too lazy to go out and buy anything when I'm craving it.
I lost all my pregnancy weight during my first week home - so I'm assuming it was all "baby weight" (weight of baby, blood volume, uterus volume, placenta, etc.).
Since then I've continued to lose about a pound a week. The first 6 weeks was just through breastfeeding - and I was eating like a teenage boy. I've never been able to eat like that and lose weight, even when I was a teenager.
At 6 weeks I started training for my half marathon, so my exercise really kicked in, so I don't know if the continued weightloss is related to breastfeeding or a combination of both. I have a feeling it was a combination, so I'm really watching what I eat now that I'm not training anymore. I'm down almost 20lbs from pre-pregnancy, so I've lost almost 40lbs since the baby was born.
I have about 15lbs to go (gained 35lbs total). 15 came off when DS was born. Then I was stuck until recently and now I seem to be losing about a pound a week. I have been a bit more careful about what I eat (and only allow myself one serving of dinner ha ha).
I was doing really well going to the gym but then I got a stupid cold and wasn't able to breathe properly for a month! However, I think I am starting mommy and me yoga this week. I have dropped one pant size since giving birth so that is nice and i feel like my stomach is almost back to normal. However, my butt/thighs are big (but I hear that is where fat deposits are kept for breastfeeding).
After I had my 1st child I resented this myth. I started out this pregnancy weighing just a little less than the end of my 1st. When I nursed my son, anytime I ate less my supply would tank. Finally, at 8 months pp when I was visiting my parents, my supply died because I wasn't eating huge amounts of food.
This go round I wasn't disillusioned on how I would look pp. I want to bf for a year, so although I eat healthy foods and am trying to exercise more, I am not thinking about weight loss. Once my year is up and baby girl is weaned, I will have the rest of my life to lose weight. I am in no rush.
this is me but i'm 25lbs less than my PP weight, down 40lbs total. I attribute most of it to BF'ing,
I lost all my baby weight and I'm now 15lbs under my pre-preg weight. DH doesn't think I eat enough, which I kind of agree with. I'm trying to work on gaining some healthy weight back since I am underweight for my height.
Jenna was in my maternity tour group.

I gained about 40 pounds during pregnancy and the first 20-25 lbs came off pretty quickly, I had a lot of water weight. I'm now under my pre-pg weight by about 5lbs. Which is great, but I don't really know how it happened. I'm pretty lazy and I need to start doing more then just a little bit of house work and sitting around the house. I would love to lose about 15-20 more lbs.
Good Luck everyone on whatever you hope to do!
It's not falling off of me. I've been losing a pound every couple of weeks, I'd guess. I just started getting on the elliptical a few days ago and dropped another pound. I gained 39 lbs during pregnancy and when I got home from the hospital, I had lost 18 lbs. I still have 11 to go til pre-baby weight. I think staying hydrated and being very conservative when it comes to snacks has really helped. Also, not sleeping well seems to cause me to plateau or gain a pound sometimes.
Awesome! She seems so cool
