December 2011 Moms

Are you having your LO's baptized?

If so, are you throwing a party?  Here we invite family and have a party after the church ceremony.  It's kind of a big deal but nothing too extravagant. I will send out invitations, which I'm in the process of making on shutterfly thanks to a couple of coupons i've collected.

Re: Are you having your LO's baptized?

  • Yes, we had a small gathering after the ceremony...just close family and friends

  • Yup, but we aren't doing it until May after DH graduates and we move for the Air Force. We will be having a christening/graduation party so it will be a bigger deal than a baptism party alone.

We both have big families, so it will be pretty crowded!

  • She's getting baptized later this month. We're having a light luncheon at our house afterwards. We invited family and a couple of close friends. I sent out an evite for it.

  • I probably will do a baptism, not so much for my religious belief but for the sake of tradition for my family.  We will have a small get together, probably just my family since DH's family isn't religious we will be doing it in my hometown which is over 4 hrs from his family.

  • LO was baptized jan 28th. We had a very small group of family and went to dinner.

  • We are doing it on the 26th.  I am bringing my wedding dress into my seamstress to have a romper made for DS and a dress for my (hopefully) future daughter.  We are going to invite everyone to a restaurant following the ceremony.  We have already had 2 big parties at the house since DS has been born (Christmas and a suprise party for BIL) so we don't want to do anything at the house again for a few months!
  • DD's baptism is in a few weeks. We're not hosting a big party, but we are still celebrating. We're just having immediate family (just parents, siblings/spouses and nieces/nephews) and we're hosting brunch at our house after church. My husband's family usually has full extended family baptisms, but my extended family is ginormous and we'd need to find a venue for 50+ people if we went that route.

  • We will be having DD baptism in April and will have a small party at our house with family and friends. What we did with DS and it worked out well.

  • We already had him baptized.  We had my parents, DH's mom, my sister & BIL who were the godparents over for lunch afterwards.  Nothing fancy- just fried chicken and the sides, cake, and tea.  No invites either.

I think the wedding dress idea is wonderful. My cousin did a similar thing. What a great way to make an heirloom!

We're making breakfast for family after the Mass. We're not sure how many people will make it since we chose to have him baptized at the 7:30 service.

  • DD wasn't baptized until she was 10 months old. We had the party at my mom's house in her backyard and decorated everything with pink and white roses. It was really pretty. We also had it catered and had thank-you gifts for the guests. I think there were about 30 people (and that's just my immediate family...DH doesn't have family close by). We did invites as well. My family's Italian so religious sacraments are HUGE celebrations.

We'll be doing the same for DS. We're waiting for summer time and then we'll have an outdoor party in our backyard.

  • DS will be baptized on April 15th.  We just got the date today.  I was hoping for June so we could have an outdoor party at my parents, but the whole summer is booked up.  We probably shouldn't have waited so long.

  • We'll baptize him in April after Lent. I was planning on just our immediate family, but I guess some of my extended family wants to travel in, so that's fine. We'll have a luncheon afterwards at a restaurant's private room somewhere.

  • I just left a message this morning at the church to schedule the baptism.  It won't be until at least April 29th, possibly sometime in May.  We are doing a pretty big celebration after.  All of our friends here are from our church, so it's kind of a big deal.  I am sooooo excited for Noelle's baptism!

  • We're Baptizing DS at the end of the month...  Not sure yet where we'll be having a dinner after but just given the size of our family it's going to be big (just immediate family & IL's is 23 people plus etiquette for both families is to invite aunts/uncles/cousins)...

  • My LO was baptized on January 29th.  We had lunch at our house afterwards.  With family and close friends we had about 25 people.  Our families are small.
