I think I've found out why I hate waking up in the middle of the night. Before I was pregnant, I could wake up with a bit of pee in my bladder but just turn over and sleep some more until I reeeally needed to go. But now, if there's enough pee in there to tell me I should probably go let loose at some point, I also feel a dull crampy sensation! I notice it before every pee break while I'm awake, and it's gone once my bladder is empty. Same thing when I have to go in the middle of the night. Only now I can't just put it off--even if my bladder is not ready to explode, that general area is cramping and telling me to hurry up and pee already.
Pregnancy is weird.
I've also had the dry lips everyone seems to mention. The other night, my lips were sealed shut when I woke up! I had to lick them from the inside so they'd separate. Gross (and momentarily terrifying). There's also an area inside my top lip, I'd say where it lies on top of my front teeth... parallel to the space between the teeth (which is small) there's a crack that won't go away. It splits even more if I wake up and move my mouth without first wetting it. Luckily I'm so used to it that before I do anything upon waking, I instantly wet my tongue and take care of it. It's still sore, though. My lips have never been so strange!
Re: Anyone else get crampy when you need to pee?
I have the crampy thing when I need to pee also. And it never fails, I don't have to pee unless someone is in the bathroom!
Can't wait to move and have 2 bathrooms again!
I get crampy when I need to pee too- and head up- later on, you definitely should not "hold it" because it can cause contractions.. At least, that is what my doctor told me when I kept going into preterm labor with my 2nd--- it's good that you're noticing it now!
CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
The 1st time I experienced the cramping feeling wa sthe other day at my u/s when I had to pee. My bladder was telling me to go. I find if you lean forward after you go - it empties the bladder too- so your not going as much. I am so blessed to have an onsuite in my bedroom
with regards to the dry ness, a hymidifier might help- at night I am very dry mouth too- drink water at your bed side helps too. so when you get up - to pee have a drink- you are peeing anyway regardless if you drink more.
