I know that this has been discussed before - but what has everyone decided to go with? Although our LO is probably only 16 or 17 lbs, I think he might hit the length limit for our car seat soon so we should probably do some shopping.
We went for the Graco My 65. It has great reviews and it was on sale at Target for $110 and we had a $10 gift card. DD won't be in for months but it was too good of a deal. It's huge though. Make sure it fits in your car!
We had a safety first alpha omega 65 given to us at x-mas by the ils. It's ok, I'm just not use to it being so open; he's such a big boy it was like stuffing a bag of potatoes into the draw in the fridge so we had to make the switch just after x-mas. The straps are the same as my graco infant carrier and it reclines to let us keep it in rear position as long as possible. Mommy just has to get use to having a captains chair for her big little man.
We bought the Combi Zues 360 on super duper sale b/c I had had my eye on it since before he was born. It's pretty much an ideal seat for RFing in a Honda Element. We put him in it at 4 months (he was just over 19 lb at 4 months). I don't love the lower RFing limit on it, but like I said - best seat for an Element and for us right now. The next convertible seat I buy (either for LO or for a future kiddo) will be the Diono Radian RXT.
We bought the Britax Marathon last week at Target for a great deal. Britax has great reviews, so we were going to go with it anyways.
He's not completely ready to move out of his infant carrier, but we're going to start using the convertible in my hubby's truck. Right now he has to come pick up my suv in order to take him anywhere....and that can be such a PITA!
I also looked into the Graco MyRide65, and it had pretty good reviews too, it just seemed so big that it wouldn't fit comfortably in my smaller suv.
DS1 is in a BLVD, and we'll likely get another one for DS2. He is fast approaching the 30lb weight limit in his Britax Chaperone, so we'll be in the market for another BLVD here shortly.
We have a britax marathon and love it. We'll either get that or a roundabout this time around (my girls are tiny and the smaller weight/height isn't an issue).

I also just got the Britax Marathon on sale at Target last week. P isn't ready for it yet because she fits fine in her carrier. I was concerned getting it home from Target because it wouldn't fit in my trunk, front seat of my car, or the back seat really. I kinda had to squish it in there all wonky but once I took it out of the box and tried it in the car it fits perfectly. I drive a Toyota Corolla.
Re: convertible car seats - what are the top picks?
This!!!
We originally bought a Britax Marathon but we had to return it because it was missing some straps! (Sad mommy over here)
So we are getting the Myride because it's on sale and it's one of the top rated ones.

My life has a superb cast but I can't figure out the plot.

Britax... All Britax all the time in our car.
