LO teething already?!?!

This seems crazy that Maya would be going through this already but a lot of the signs are there. She fusses a lot for no reason, and it isn't just like a "hey mama I'm just gonna b*itch for no reason to drive you up a wall".. it's more like she's uncomfortable or in pain. She is also drooling A TON and constantly chewing on her hands when she isn't hungry or the corners of her blankies, I even caught her chewing on the antennae/ear things of her gloworm. I don't see any teeth quite cutting yet but I do see some little white shadows through her bottom gum and it's more rough feeling then it used to be. I tried some baby orajel when she was fussing and it calmed her down immediately and she fell asleep, so I went out and bought a NUBY 0+ month teether and she absolutely loves it! ... time to get ourselves a Sophie? Anyone else dealing with this so early?

Re: LO teething already?!?!

  • DS has been chewing on his almost constantly, even when he's not hungry. I'm hoping he's just still fascinated by it because I'm not ready to deal with teething. I think when the drooling starts, I'll be a little more worried.

  • You should read the reviews on Sophie. I won't be getting one because of them. Apparently the legs are the perfect size to cause airway blockage and lots of babies have been choking on them.

  • We've been super drool-y for a few weeks now but I've read that the drool can start months before any teeth actually come in.

  • We're dealing with the same thing, and my mom is wondering too. My friend said her little boy started teething about 3 mos and didn't get any teeth til almost 6 mos so I guess it's possible.

  • DD2 is super drooly.  I'm starting to get worried.

  • Our pedi said drooling is a sign that they"re reday to process carbohydrates, but you shouldn,t give cereal until 4 months still.  Both of my DD"s started drooling before their 2 mo. well visits.  Seems odd!

  • My little guy is doing the same thing. Drooling a lot since last week, gnawing on his hands/swaddlers, etc. and he's clamped down on my nipples a couple times. I gave him a teething ring and while he can't coordinate how to hold and gnaw on it at the same time, if I hold it for him he seems to like gnawing it.

  • Exact same with DD. We were at my parent's last night and my Mom said that I should be keeping an eye out for teeth, because she thought that DD was teething.

Suuuper drooly (however, she's gradually become more and more drooly over the past few weeks), constant gumming at hands/fists even when not hungry, unexplainable temper tantrums, and she seems to be soothed when I gently rub her lower gums.

I want her to be able to use a teether but since she hasn't really figured out how to hold something successfully she hasn't really grasped the concept of a teether.
