Anyone allow tummy sleeping for naps?

Ds will nap 30 min, an hour here or there during the day (no pattern, and that is ok with me). I noticed he sleeps much more soundly on his belly, especially since he can suck on his thumb/hands in this position. Does anyone do this? My concern is that he will prefer to sleep this way. At night he obviously sleeps on his back, he is only on belly for naps because I can see him. I have no intention of putting him on his belly at night, so I don't want to start a bad "habit" if that is possible.

Yep! LO (3 months) is able to lift her head and turn it to each side (she does this while napping on her tummy - it's cute) so I feel comfortable letting her sleep that way for naps.

I do tummy naps for DD - she slept like that for all naps over the weekend, and I know MIL does them while she watches DD 3 days/week. She sleeps well that way, and I check on her often. It's never been a problem, and I do it b/c she's been STTN from 10-6, so tummy naps get her off her back.

As a bonus, when she wakes up, she's in a decent mood so I play w/her for a few min and she gets tummy time. Any other tummy time she gets pissed off after about 2 min!

Since Danny will sleep on me for one of his three daily naps, he sleeps on his tummy on my chest. We start out doing tummy time and then after about a half hour of it, he just conks out. And then I don't have the heart to move him and I sit there and I cuddle him while he sleeps.

I know the risk of SIDS and tummy sleeping. But I always put my DD to sleep on her tummy. That is the only way she will get any quality sleep. She always wakes herself up on her back, and she hates being swaddled. I swaddle her and 30 mins later she is screaming bloody murder. My ped. knows and she has not said anything about her sleeping this way, and I am always up through out the night to check in on her. Plus she can turn and lift her head well. So I am not too worried.

Yup, but she also sleeps all night on her tummy. DD1 was/is a tummy sleeper, so I'm kind of used to it.

My LO will only sleep if on her tummy or her side, so I'm currently letting her sleep on her side at night and on her tummy during naps.

Yup, DS naps on his tummy but sleeps on his back. As soon as he starts rolling over I'll probably put him to sleep on his tummy as I think he sleeps sounder that way.

LO can only sleep on his tummy if he is on one of us... otherwise he is always in his bouncer or mamaroo so he won't sleep on his tummy anyways. Our pedi says that once he starts to roll onto his tummy you can leave him that way but don't PUT him on his belly to begin with. That's pretty much the philosophy we are sticking with.

My LO is my first. He sleeps so much better on his stomach and is really good about turning his head back and forth throughout the night. I still check on him (he sleeps in the PNP next to me) but he is definitely a tummy sleeper.
