Re: If you have a gym membership-some ?

  • I have a membership at one gym, but I have been going to another, soI will answer for both.

    Gym 1: Gold's

what do you ike about your gym? It's close to my home/has a pool.  not like? High Rates; Its kind of a muscle man gym sometimes.

did you pay a registration fee? what is your monthly rate? Our registration fee was waived... I think that if paying a registration fee is going to make or break you signing up for a gym, the membership person will prob waive it for you. We pay $50 a month for a couples membership. We do have to pay a yearly membership fee of $30, which they did not adequately explain when we signed up. I get annoyed every time it comes out of our bank account.

does your gym do babysitting? was this a factor in your decision to go? Yes, there is babysitting, but I havent been there since O was born Embarrassed... I also dont think I would use it anyways with O this little. It was not a factor

what hours do you go? I dont.

do you go for classes or for the machines?  When I do go - both.

    Gym 2: Trillium

I don't have a membership here, per se - I pay $600 for 12 week of "biggest loser" style group personal training

what do you ike about your gym? My trainer, and the comraderie of the people I work out with  not like? High Rates; Its far from my house

Did you pay a registration fee? what is your monthly rate? No registration fee for the program, Im not sure the monthly rate there, but I will be signing up for the gym once my golds membership runs out.

does your gym do babysitting? was this a factor in your decision to go? No babysitting, but if they did have babysitting, I probably WOULD bring Owen here - I like the staff at the gym that much. Not a factor.

what hours do you go? 9:30-10:30 M/W; Noon on Sunday

do you go for classes or for the machines?  Training right now... I would LOVE to get to the classes though.

what do you ike about your gym? not like? We belong to the YMCA.  I like that there is something for all of us to do individually and that we can spend time there as a family.  I like that I know a lot of other people who go there (like mrsoc and jessica8263) but I dislike how busy it is sometimes.

Something else I like is that they have a babysitting program where you can leave the Y for 3 hours if needed, for only $15.  I had a babysitting emergency once, and they were really nice about getting T in last minute.

did you pay a registration fee? what is your monthly rate? I think we did pay a registration fee and we pay something like $57/month for the family.  That is reduced a little from the standard fee based on our income.

does your gym do babysitting? was this a factor in your decision to go? I would not have signed up if there wasn't childcare.  In fact, today we're going just so I can use the childcare and relax and read a book.  I also have meetings for work there sometimes, especially if I am meeting other members who have kids.

what hours do you go? Right now we haven't been going much because of my back/pelvis issues, but before I was pg, we went a few days a week between 9 and 11 usually.

do you go for classes or for the machines?   I like both, but use the machines more, because I get embarrassed by my lack of rhythm in the dance-like classes.

  • what do you ike about your gym? super close to my house, cheap not like? no classes

did you pay a registration fee? I think so... but it wasn't much what is your monthly rate? $32 for me, DH and unlimited DC for E

does your gym do babysitting? Yes was this a factor in your decision to go? Yes

what hours do you go? now, not much at all! I'd like to start going a few early mornings and then on my 2 days off. Before when I wasn't working I would go around 9-10 am (the childcare is from 9-12 during the week, then 4-7)

do you go for classes or for the machines? machines and free weights... though I'd love to take a class or 2 a week.

  • what do you like about your gym? not like? I left Golds and moving to the JCC. Golds has daycare but it always seems like it's some kid who is more interested on her cell phone than the kids. I also don't trust how clean the room will be. Most of their best classes are at 5am or 7pm. Both of which don't work for me.

did you pay a registration fee? what is your monthly rate? JCC I'll be paying a registration fee and a monthly fee. I think reg is $100 and monthly is $55 for myself and Lily. I can use the gym, classes, pool, babysitting

does your gym do babysitting? was this a factor in your decision to go? Yes I can use their babysitting for 2 hours a day. I'm sure on the random days that I'm there longer and when I become established and they know me if I go over it won't be a big deal.

what hours do you go? I"ll most likely be doing classes and working out anywhere between 8-11am

do you go for classes or for the machines? Classes, machines and pools.

what do you ike about your gym? not like? It offers great kids' classes, like swimming and gymnastics, and it has three different pools.

did you pay a registration fee? what is your monthly rate? No registration fee - it's a gym only for Walmart employees, so it's just taken out of DH's check, but I think it's like $7/check??

does your gym do babysitting? was this a factor in your decision to go? It does, and I love that it offers it, but we don't use it often.  Gavin hated it so I stopped forcing him to go, and now that he likes it, Riley is going through separation anxiety issues and is the one crying.

what hours do you go? I rarely go, but DH goes on his lunch break, and early on the weekends.

do you go for classes or for the machines?  Machines

  • what do you ike about your gym? not like? We are members of the Y. I really like it. There is a lot of different things we can do as a family as well as individuals. It can get really busy but since our Y expanded, it's much better. Especially on Saturday mornings, sometimes it's hard to find a parking spot. There is great classes for B and me, and the pool is a bonus. I've met some really great families there and we actually meet up outside of the Y now. I love that all different types of people go there. I've never felt judged. B has a seperate gym area for toddlers which she LOVES. There is always kids there so it's really nice to let her just be crazy and play. Our insurance also pays 350$ a year for a gym membership (or other wellness activity) so the overall cost isn't too bad.

did you pay a registration fee? what is your monthly rate? We did not pay a registration fee b/c it was waived if you signed up on New Years day. Our monthly rate is 93$ a month. It's a lot but we are there every day, sometimes twice a day.

does your gym do babysitting? was this a factor in your decision to go? Yes, but I have yet to get up the nerve to leave her there. It's me, not the center. It's open windows so you always see what's going on with the kids. I'm going to do it soon since B always wants to go into play. Childcare is included up to 2 hours a day.

what hours do you go? DH goes early, like 5am. I go after work on weekdays and in the mornings on weekends.

do you go for classes or for the machines? I love the Zumba class, but otherwise I usually do the machines. I volunteer for the young adult cancer recovery class too, light exercise/swimming/on site group therapy.  All the machines have TV's, more than 2/3 of them are personal TV's so I'll just watch a show and the time goes by quickly.

  • So I'm not sure which to put this in, but I'll answer here because we do pay a fee...

We pay to use the facilities at a local college. It has a weight room, gymnasium (with sucky hours), small cardio machine room, and a pool. No child care. Closed during college breaks like thanksgiving and Christmas. Super cheap, I'll have to ask dh but I think it is $30-50 for family every 3 months.

I had a membership at the Y until I had dd. I dropped it bc of cost. Once we are good with putting ds in the daycare we will probably rejoin though. I can't actually work out at the one we have bc of no child care. And dd would love the time at the Y.

  • what do you ike about your gym? not like?  We go to the Y too.. I like pretty much everything.. I like that there are lots of things for the kids to do there in addition to the gym stuff so I dont' feel like i'm throwing away money into our membership if I don't go for awhile (like now)

did you pay a registration fee? what is your monthly rate? I don't remember if I paid a registration fee.. I kind of feel like we didn't.. but i'm not sure.. it was ages ago. We pay $62 a month for the family membership

does your gym do babysitting? was this a factor in your decision to go? Yes.. 90 min per day. We were members before we had kids but it is definitely a plus.

what hours do you go? Umm. Never? I am hoping to get Eve signed up for a couple classes once she turns 3 and if Dh is still off in the mornings we can all go then.

do you go for classes or for the machines?I have never done a class. I'm too chicken. Maybe if i had a friend to go with.

what do you ike about your gym? not like? I like the variety of acitivites and that there is something there for all of us.  The showers could use a little work.  I have friends that belong too, which is nice.

did you pay a registration fee? what is your monthly rate?  Our fee was waived through work, we pay about $70ish monthly.

does your gym do babysitting? was this a factor in your decision to go?  Yes, definitely a factor.

what hours do you go? When I go alone, usually between 5:30 and 6 a.m. or after the boys are in bed (7:30ish).  When we go together, either in the morning, or after dinner for swimming.

do you go for classes or for the machines? Machines.  I would love to do classes, at some point.
