3rd Trimester

Arms and fingers falling asleep!

I think I remember someone posting about this issue awhile back. Is anyone else having this issue? It really only happens when I sleep. Just started a week ago. Assuming this is pregnancy related!

Re: Arms and fingers falling asleep!

  • That happens to me only when I sleep on my left side, which sucks, because that's the side they tell you to sleep on. When I roll over to my right side, I'm fine. It's really annoying, though.

  • It has been happening to me as well.  I typically sleep on my side and it happens to which ever arm I am sleeping on.  It is a strange strange sensation to wake up too.
  • been happening to me a lot lately. very annoying!
  • It happens to me on both sides.  I read that it is normal and if you sleep with your hands open and pointing up it says it is supposed to help.  So far I haven't noticed...ha ha ha!  Good luck!  Part of pregnancy bliss!

  • I've just started having this issue...It's really annoying.  My hands have been super stiff during the night for a while now, but have just started tingling.  I'm glad to know I'm not the only one having this issue.
  • I did have this issue, I was sleeping with my top arm down by my side. I started hugging a pillow with my top arm and I haven't notice it happening in a while. Hope that helps!

  • Ugh this happens to me every night no matter what position I lay in!  So annoying!  But judging from the responses, it's pretty normal!

  • Yuck, this has been happening to me for months. Some days it is better than others.. since I've been at home instead of working at a computer, it is almost non-existent now, instead of constant. However, it does pop up every other day or so which is a lot better than it happening and staying numb all day like it was doing!  My doc had me to go sleep with a wrist brace on the hand that was worst for me. That seemed to help, but really the only thing that has kept my hands from being numb all day is staying away from the computer as much as possible!

I am glad it hasn't been happening too long to you because it surely does get annoying... then again, I am sorta used to it now lol..

  • My doctor said that this is carpal tunnel and should go away after pregnancy. It has gotten so bad that my arms have fallen asleep and when I try to get the circulation back in them, they HURT! I put a heating pad on them to help the pain.

It helps me to put some ice on my wrists to help with the swelling that causes my hands to go numb.  I can't wait for it to go away.
