mamaroo

I read a post a while back about mamaroos.  They look awesome, but I can't justify spending the money.  A local baby consignment shop has a new one for $100.  If you have a mamaroo - what do you think?  Still worth it?

Re: mamaroo

  • Got mine for $80 at a family baby sale. My LO could really care less about it. He tolerates it sometimes for about 20 min if he's asleep and I sneek him in it. I've read that some babies love it, and some babies hate it!

The only good thing is that you could probably sell it on ebay if your LO doesnt like it.

  • MIL got us ours because they were selling the floor model at BBB (also they are available refurbished on their website for less). We don't use it as much as we first did.... but when LO was having his colic fits it really did help. Now he seems to be moving on from the colic and sleeping more we don't use it as often. He does sit in it (though now he doesn't sleep in it as much he will stay awake but quiet... though he does drift off sometimes) and loves the mobile though it doesn't move.

So to answer your question... I wouldn't have paid the 165 for it.. BUT if you have a super fussy baby and it works for you then it's definitely worth the money. Also, if your baby reacts well to nature noises, etc it has a bunch of options that will work well for you!

  • We got one as a gist and it has definitely been worth it for us. LO hated it for the first month, but for the last two she will be happy in it for 20-30 min awake, and up to two hours asleep for naps. I like it because you can really reduce the speed, to me traditional swings are incredibly fast.

  • I think it depends on the baby. My cousin has them b/c they are smaller (she has triplets and needed something with a smaller footprint b/c they got three) for them they have been a life saver. We got the fisher price snug a bunny swing. Our LO LOVES his swing, he naps 3-4 times a day in his swing for 2+ hours. In the mamaroo he won't sleep as long, I don't think he's as comfortable b/c they sit up more...
