Bfing and LO biting?

My DD has been biting me lately when she nurses.  She has also been blowing raspberries and slobbering more the past few days.  Is it possible she is teething already?  My DS didn't get any teeth until he was 6mo old.

What do you do when LO bites you?  I just pull her off and say "no".  I tried giving her a frozen ring today but she can't really hold it.

Re: Bfing and LO biting?

  • When I push lightly on DS's cheek his jaw automatically opens, so I do that and say 'relax'.  That seems to work for now.

  • Ahhh, I know what you're going through! My LO did this to me very early on. In your case, it sounds like LO is teething. I was surprised mine started teething this early as well because like your DS, my DD didn't start until 6 mo. When mine bites, I tell him no, that it hurts mommy (sounds strange, but the tone in your voice will register). If LO does it a second time, I take him off, burp him and tell him he can come back to the table when he has better manners. Something I've been doing is giving LO a burp cloth to rub on his gums. I play with him with it so he understands that he can use it in his mouth. He has been going for his hands which I don't want (no thumb/finger suckers here!).  Here's some good info on biting from KellyMom.com https://www.kellymom.com/bf/older-baby/biting.html. Keep in mind that the excess spit can also irritate your nips too. GL!
