When does it get better?

I am only 10 days post partum but am getting so tired of all the pain/issues in my vag region.  I had a second degree tear and then was stiched up.  The bleeding feels like it is non-stop, it is uncomfortable to have a BM, I feel so sore. I just want to be better! Anyone further out that can offer their experience of when they began to feel "normal". Should I just resign myself to six full weeks of misery?

Re: When does it get better?

  • I started feeling more normal around 2-2.5 weeks pp.  it's still a little tender when I wipe sometimes but for the most part I feel back to normal now.  No bleeding.  I also had a second degree tear.

  • TY for the hope! It was also good to read the line of posts "But how are you?" with other post partum updates. I feel like I am being whiney, but I think that coupled with the sleep deprivation you just reach a point of ultimate frustration with your own body. HEAL darn it!

Patience is a virtue that perhaps this experience will help me to acquire!

  • I have both good and bad experiences. Good was I had a 2nd degree tear w/DS#1 and recovered well before 2 weeks- vagInally. My posterior is another story. I bled with every BM well into 6 or 7 weeks post-pardum. Stool softeners are your friend!
  • I felt a lot better a little after 2 weeks. I had 3 first degree tears and they've all healed up now. I went back to work where I stand up/move around all day at 3 1/2 weeks. You'll feel so much better soon!

  • I'm just over 3wks pp, I also had a 2nd degree tear, and I'm feeling normal. Stool softeners are extra helpful. I still have minor bleeding and when I cough or sneeze its tender. If you have any doubts, call your doctor. My OB has been really helpful at answering all my questions too!
  • I am 2 weeks and 2 days post partum, and I had 3 3rd degree tears..not sure how I managed that one, but I was pretty battered down there..I'm still at the point where I have to dab instead of wipe, but it's starting to get better and the bleeding just slowed down 2 days ago..hang in there, you will get back to normal!
  • I was feeling better about 10-12 days pp. I could sit straight (even on a wooden chair!), go up and down stairs without issue and sneeze without freaking out. BMs are still a bit touch and go, but like a pp said- stool softeners are your friend!

  • I had a 3rd degree tear. I'm at almost 3 weeks pp and a About 90% better. Taking a hot bath every day, using the tucks pads and some spray they gave me really helped. Baths probably help the most though. You're almost there don't worry!!
