My original due date for Kennedei was February 5, 2012. I opted for an induction on January 31st, and was excited and ready to be done with pregnancy and have my outside baby. Well, Kennedei had other plans: on Friday night, the 27th, I started having contractions. I didn't really think anything of them, as I had been having contractions for weeks and they never amounted to anything. I was also very grumpy that night and my 11 year old DD and husband were working my last nerve. I go to bed about midnight after drinking water and taking a couple of Tylenol, and woke to pretty painful contractions about 3:00am. I get my husband up, who thinks it's just nothing and says lets just go to the hospital in the morning. I'm walking around the house and I get to the point that when a contraction hits, I have to stop and support myself against a wall. So I go to my husband again and say we need to go and I cannot drive, this baby is coming whether we like it or not. So, he gets up and gets dressed and he's all over the place, can't find his wallet, forgets my bag, just like in the movies, complete chaos. He drives me to the hospital which is normally about a 25-30 minute drive and we make it in 10 minutes. They wheel me up to L&D and confirm that I'm in labor and I finally have my bloody show. They then move me to my room and call the epidural man....which takes forever. By the time he showed up I was dilated to an 8. I have never felt pain like that in my life and was certain that I would be having her naturally. I was not nice to my husband and kept telling him to not touch me...poor guy was freaked out. He called my mom and she was the only one that could calm me down. Finally I get my epi and the dr. broke my water. Miss Kennedei decided to get stuck behind my pubic bone for 2 hours thereafter, the Dr. finally said, lets just try a few pushes and see if we can coax her out. I'm like okay...3 pushes later I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She swallowed some fluid on her way out and needed oxygen for a few minutes, but all is well. She ended up being 20.5 inches long and 8pnds 8oz and I was in labor for a total of 10 hours, most without drugs. I also didn't end up needing any stitches and I must say, this birth was much easier, though more painful, than the birth I had with my 11 year old DD.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I'm loving having a newborn in the house and kind of can't wait to do it again, but would rather skip the 9 months of pregnancy
