Two Under 2

3 kids with 2u2 is freaking hard

Don't spend much time here. Is there anyone else with 3 close in age? I have a 3 1/2 year old, a 20 month old and a 2 month old. My life is chaos. I was also recently diagnosed with PPD, but I'm not sure if it's real or how overwhelmed I am right now. When does it start to get better?

I love love love my kids, btw. I wouldn't trade them for anything. It's just been a huge learning curve for me.

  • I don't have any answers for you - but I am sure it will get better with time (we have 2U2).  2U2 is hard no matter what - but adding another one to the mix can only make it more stressful.  Communicate with your SO about what he can do to help and take help whenever offered!

  • My kids are the same ages as yours give or take.  It is crazy, but it is either getting better, or we are just getting used to it.  I take one day at a time.  I have no help around me either, so I just set small goals during the day, like getting to nap time, etc.  Good luck!

  • I have a 3.5yr old, a 22 month old, a 9 month old & am newly pg.  It is tough and the 1st tri pregnancy exhaustion is killing me in the afternoons.  But, it does get better & it will for you too.  Life will seem so much sunnier once your 2 month old sleeps better & isn't as needy for mommy.  Hugs!

  • We have an almost 4 year old...27 month old and 1.5 month old.  Might just be overwhelmed still...I have found the transition to be quite easy...but it definitely helps that we have an easy baby.

  • I don't know, I'm about to have 3 within 27 months. My house is very organized, because that's the only way we can function smoothly. Plus routine is key for us right now.

  • I have survived what you're going through now, I think, based on your ticker. It IS hard. I often wondered if I had PPD, even as late as a few months ago, but didn't know if that was even possible, or like you said, if the overwhelming presence of our chaotic life just had me down... Anyway, To answer your question, it's still hard now. There have been windows where I feel like I've gained some ground, but then, as you know, things change and it's back to square one. Like some PPs have mentioned, things that helped me get through it were to take whatever help I could - DH, is he is available, sitters, cleaners, family, if you have them nearby (I don't).... Also, getting and staying organized is a huge help to me, as is staying on a routine, when possible. GL, give yourself a break when you can, because it is hard!! :)
