DS STTN!!!

I thought it was a fluke the other night. DS moved his bedtime up on me so I bathed him early and put him in bed at 8.  Prior to this he went to bed around 10 with me.  Well that night he slept until 6 the next day!!!!!!!  I thought it was just a fluke.  The next night, same deal but I thought it was his shots.  Last night he did the same thing.  Dare I say we might be STTN????  I know it will change again but three nights of 8+ hours of sleep makes me feel like a NEW WOMAN!!!!!!! On the down side, I also have a clogged milk duct from sleeping so long and not pumping ARGH.......  So last night I woke up at 1, 3 and then fed him at 6 so I wouldn't have continued issus.  Any other mommies with advice for clogged milk ducts????

  • Congrats! Hopefully its not temporary, but even if it is its still awesome and lets you know its possible, lol.

No advice on the clogged milk ducts, but it is an ironic torture that once they start sttn Mommy still can't

  • Congrats! I'd say that if you're waking up to pump at night, only pump enough to relieve the pressure-- if you continue to pump every night, your body will keep making milk and you'll never get to sleep through the night! Eventually, you'll be able to make it through the night and not feed him-- your body will adjust!

As for the clogged duct, pump & nurse as much as you can, put a heating pad on your breast and massage while you pump and take some really hot showers while massaging the lump.

  • Good point about not pumping too much... I didn't put two and two together.  I better slow down a bit at night... Thanks for the advice.  MUCH appreciated

  • We have done the same thing (3 nights now...fingers crossed!)  I have just been pumping right after he eats in the morning.  I am appreciating the extra milk for my freezer stash right now.  Let's home the STTN trend continues.

  • Congrats!! DD starting doing this about 2 weeks ago and it is fantastic. Fingers crossed for you!

For clogged ducts make sure you pump/nurse as much as possible. Also, this sounds weird but I've had success by pumping while on all fours. I've read advice about nursing on top of baby too. This lets gravity help drain the duct and it worked for me!!  Your body will adjust too, I am now able to go about 7hours at night without waking up with rock hard boobs.
