Feeling terrible

This morning I went to shut the door to keep my daughter out of th office and didn't notice, but her finger was in the door. So i smashed my daughters finger in the door on the hinged side.

She has a few layers of skin missing. It didnt bleed and she can bend it. I took her to urgent care but I feel terrible. How did I let this happen to her. To top it off she is recvering from her first ever cold too.

She is napping now and has been for an hour but I am home by myself and ever time i thinkk about it I cant upset ans start crying again.

Re: Feeling terrible

  • It was an accident. and it probably won't be the last time. Take it easy on yourself.

  • I know the feeling.  You'll replay it in your head a thousand times but don't worry...it was an accident and she will be fine.  Extra hugs tonight for sure!

  • You must be one high-strung mom.  What did they tell you at urgent care?

  • my husband wanted me to take her to urgent care becuase it looked really bad at first and he wanted to make sure it wasnt broken.

I am just upset that I cause it as I was the one to shut the door on her

Also the doctor checked her ears and gave her a mini check up as well. Since she had a slight cold it was nice to have confirmation that she wasn't getting an ear infection or anything as well.

And really I feel worse that it was my fault that this even happened.

  • Ouch. Poor baby.  These things happen. The important thing is that it was an accident and you took good care of her after the fact. Moms can't be perfect!

  • I've been there and it feels awful. It was an accident though, and now you will be more careful next time. Try not to beat yourself up about it too much, these things happen to everyone. Oh, and you are not "high-strung" for taking her to get checked out. I think most reasonable mommies would have done the same.
