Ok, so I know that they say at one year old, they aren't supposed to be taking down formula. However, my 9 month old has suddenly wanted more than normal formula... and I have no clue how in less than 3 months, he is supposed to be off this stuff!
For some reason, the afternoons have just been horrible. He gets a bottle at 2pm before his nap... and then I pick him up from daycare and home around 4:30pm and he is just a terror. Crying/screaming unless I am holding him, and sometimes then too. I feed him around 5:15pm-5:30pm... he eats about 8-10 oz (2 pouches) solids... and then goes back to screaming/crying. He gets a bottle at 6:30pm (he is now up to 7 oz) before bed. Today he was so bad at 3:45pm, that I gave him 4 oz to see if that's what he wanted and yup... took it all down.
I'm nervous to hit the one year mark and make the transition... how do you do it? And, am I not giving him enough solids during the day, or is it ok that he is wanting more formula?
Re: Ahhhh...need suggestions on feeding!
Prior to 1 year, we did formula as meals and food as snacks. At the one year mark, we switched that. Food at mealtimes and WCM as snacks. Her consumption of WCM has only recently started to go down. But we've had to pay more attention to what FOOD we're feeding her as it was the basis of her vitamin intake (rather than formula).
It'll work itself out!
