Hello new mommas!
I am putting together a shower gift for my sister who is having her first baby in a few months, sort of a "Top Ten Things New Moms Need (But They Don't Know It Yet)" and I'm stuck on finishing the list. I want it to be kind of cute and funny but practical. I can't remember much about the first few weeks of being a new mom-the lack of sleep made it a bit of a blur This is what I have so far:
-nursing cover
-book Happiest Baby on the Block
-swaddle blankets
-bottle of wine
-possibly a nightgown (I know I brought one that was long-sleeved and I was so darn HOT in my hospital room that my mom went out and bought me sleeveless ones and a battery operated fan!
It's for her shower that her mother-in-law is throwing, so I don't want to get too real like hemorrhoid cream or stool softener And I know I should be sticking to her registry BUT I already got her their high chair for our family shower. Plus, she's my little sister, so I'm allowed to break the rules! Thanks!
Re: Ideas for a shower gift
-My Brest Friend (#1 used item for me)
-Nose Frida + Little Noses saline spray
A Boppy Pillow
Essentials likes wipes, burp rags, destin
Musical Seahorse (Forget the real name, but Fisher Price makes it) LO LOVES his! Calms him instantly, I swear that thing is magical!
A package of cloth diapers (generic pre-folds). I ended up using them as pads during PP since I had an allergic reaction to the regular pads. But if she doesn't need them they are great for burp rags/etc.
An empty tote for outgrown clothes. I know this is sad to think about but by 4 weeks I was already sorting through clothes that didn't fit anymore, and my cousin gave me an empty tote for what it was for. You can use the tote to wrap the other gifts in.
Nose Frida
Cloth diapers for burp cloths
Sophie
Lanolin (if she's BF'ing)
Delivery/take out gift card(s)
Moby or other baby carrier
LOL - yep, a bottle of Senna Plus is a good idea, but yea..
-Boppy
-Wash cloths (you end up going through a ton of them! From easier than a bib for a messy eating newborn to spills as they age, it's amazing how many you go through!)
-gift certificate to get some freezer meals or places in the area that will deliver..
-I agree on the idea of something like a Rubbermaid storage container to package it in when they grow out of clothes unless they aren't planning on having another, they'll need something to store the clothes in...
-Neutral sleep & play outfits - just in case the u/s tech was wrong LOL
-Pacifier holders (they also work for holding rattles/gum soothers
-The book "Go the F to Sleep!"...
