I am going to try a free class with Bailey next week to see if it'd be worth the monthly fee to belong to one of these places. $70 a month is so expensive to me but if we could do a few classes or open gym sessions a week it might be worth it. I'd like to have another option for things to do with her because getting out of the house right now usually involves just going to Target or other shopping. I'd probably end up saving money, actually! If Storyville wasn't such a drive, we'd be there a lot more.
If you go to any of these places, recommend yours. My Gym in Timonium is literally right across the street so that would be ideal.
Re: Does anyone go to My Gym, Gymboree or Little Gym?
I haven't gone, but I am really interested to hear how it goes. We were thinking about signing Evie up for either My Gym or swim lessons this winter.
DH said that the child care area in the Merritt Athletic Club on Cranbrook Road looks really nice. We get reduced cost membership to Merritt through DH's work. The only downside to using that is that I'd have to actually you know, work out. LOL.
We go to the Columbia My Gym and honestly could not say more good things about it. Their little one's class on Saturday morning is the highlight of our week. It's the perfect length at 45 minutes - and they pack in *so* much. In the course of less than an hour they have warm up/circle time, a couple of special activities, swings, independent play and story time - along with free play between while they set up the next thing. They also have music playing the whole time. The whole thing is just too cute for words. They also have a number of free play sessions built into the week that you can attend - as well as "mommy and daddy's night out" once a month where for something like $20 you can drop your kids off for a pizza party from 5:30-8:30 on a Friday night and get some time alone. Kids have to be at least 18 months for that so we haven't tried it yet, but might once he gets old enough. He has such a blast when he's there, I think it would be harder for Brad and me than Maddox.
During the holidays they also have "drop and shop" where you can drop the kids off for like $15 from 1:30-4:30 once a week and get your errands done. Again, not something we've taken advantage of, but a really thoughtful idea.
I know the director of the Columbia branch, Mr. Dan, is also more or less the director of the Owings Mills My Gym, but I'm not sure who works in Timonium. Can't imagine they're not great, though. They're always having promotions on Groupon type sites so that you can check them out - and I think they all offer one free visit before you join.
Sorry this got so long. As you can tell we love that place!!!

I think Gymboree starts @ 3 months maybe? but, its seem kinda silly to do it that young to me.
I think a baby who is confidently crawling and better yet pulling up/cruising would enjoy it. Its nice that they have all that great equipment, so its totally safe, but yet, they can really explore.
We started Maddox at around 9 months and he *loved* it. Probably could have gone earlier since everything can be adjusted for age...plenty of kids in his little class started younger than that - but 9 months worked well for us.

We go to the My Gym in Timonium and Anderson seem to like it. I think it has helped with his gross motor skills. The pedi even said he's advanced in that area and I think it's because I've been taking him there.
The one in Timonium does everything Rags said the one in Columbia does. I think it has been worth the money.
I went to MyGym when DD was younger and honestly thought it was a bit expensive for what it was. However, now that she's alittle older i think she'd enjoy it much more. She also got sick when we went so that was another deterent for me, but I do have to say they are very clean there with the items. You can't control the people though who bring kids that are sick.
Anyone know of anything like this in Carroll County? E needs something ACTIVE not just stories/circle time. The only place anyone had ever heard of in this area was the place in Eldersberg that closed earlier this year.
ugh, why did I move to the boonies!?
